According to
The NPD Group, a leading marketing information provider, U.S. retail sales of video games rose 32 per cent for the month of March. NPD analysts primarily attribute the rise in sales to the late February release of the highly anticipated
Gran Turismo 4, as well as "an improved suppy of video game hardware". This "improved suppy" refers to consoles which were in short supply over the holiday season (PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube), along with Sony PSP, which was released on March 24th. In the seven days the PSP was available for the month, 620,000 PSPs were sold, along with 1.1 million PSP games.
