GamesIndustry.biz is this morning reporting an announcement from Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi (via Japanese publication
Nikkei Electronics) stating the PS3 will no longer act as a home network router. The basis for this decision, according to Kutaragi, was purely one of cost, as eliminating the PS3's router functionality will allow Sony to offer the PS3 for less money. The future of the three Gigabit Ethernet ports on the back of the machine remains unclear.
