Anti-video game advocate Jack Thompson is riding the coattails of last week's GTA: San Andreas "Hot Coffee" scandal, and is now taking aim at EA's The Sims 2. Like GTA: San Andreas, and countless other games, cheats and/or mods can be downloaded and/or activated to change the the game. The "Hot Coffee" mod added sex scenes to GTA: San Andreas, causing the ESRB to change the rating to "AO" (Adults Only). Thompson is now calling for the same treatment for the relatively harmless and non-violent The Sims 2.

What has Thompson's diaper in a wad, you ask? Nudity. While there is no sex involved in any cheat nor mod for EA's life simulator, there is an available cheat which allows the in-game "blurs" to be removed, meaning, if you research and activate the cheat, you'll get the opportunity to view pixelated boobies and peepees as your Sims shower and change clothes. Since children shower and change clothes, too, the "unblur" cheat also reveals their naked and pixelated bodies, which automatically makes Thompson think of sex with children. In Thompson's most recent statement, he comments on the potential of seeing a naked child as something, "Much to the delight, one can be sure, of paedophiles around the globe who can rehearse, in virtual reality, for their abuse."

EA executive Jeff Brown calls Thompson's claim "nonsense". While he admits the blur can be removed via a cheat, he explains the Sims have no genitals, and what's revealed can be described as "Ken & Barbie" nudity. Thompson initially countered by stating, "The blur is an admission that even the 'Ken and Barbie' features should not be displayed. The blur can be disarmed. This is no different than what is in San Andreas, although worse."

Once Thomson got some time to cool off, and possibly realized it was a touch nutso batso to be offended by a blur, he retracted his statement that the Sims 2 cheat allowed gamers to view, "full frontal nudity, including nipples, penises, labia and pubic hair," yet maintains, somehow, that EA is, "co-operating, gleefully, with the mod community to turn Sims 2 into a porn offering."
