We'd like to give a special thanks to Steve Johnson, author of
Everything Bad is Good for You, for his open letter to Hillary Clinton in yesterday's
LA Times. In the letter, Johnson reminds Clinton that the introduction of violent video games to the market has actually coincided with "the most dramatic drop in violent crime in recent memory", which damages Clinton's unfounded fight that these video games are making kids more violent. What's more, Johnson explains how video games are good for today's kids as the level of difficulty and mental exertion required to get through these games prepares them for the "digital workplace of tomorrow".
Again, no one is suggesting that violent video games be put in the hands of kids, but the stigma that people like Clinton (who I normally support, btw) are putting on the industry as a whole could, in fact, be damaging to the future of this country's workforce.
