Variety.com has confirmed a Summer 2007 release date for Master Chief's theatrical debut in the upcoming Fox and Universal film based on Microsoft's
Halo. So far, the details are few and far between. Peter Schlessel, who served as Microsoft's Hollywood liason, will be producing the film, and Alex Garland, who wrote the scripts for both
The Beach and
28 Days Later, has already written a Microsoft/Bungie approved script for
Halo. Fox and Universal will be paying Microsoft $5 million against 10 per cent of the gross, and "several employees" at Bungie (the Microsoft-owned development studio that created
Halo) will serve as Microsoft's creative consultants for the film.
