Yesterday,
I wrote a story regarding Activision's signing of much of the talent of
Band of Brothers for their upcoming
Call of Duty 2 games. Today, I found
this article at Gamespot which details a $10 million lawsuit filed against Activision by
Call of Duty developer, Spark Unlimited, which alleges, "breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation, and breach of an implied contract." In summary, Spark created and pitched the idea for
Call of Duty, there was a bidding war, Activision won and promised a three game deal. Activision then went behind the back of Spark and decided to make the first sequel in-house, edging out Spark for a higher profit margin. Spark wants an injunction against Activision releasing
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. I'll keep you updated if anything comes of this.
