Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has revealed in an interview with Japan's
Nikkei Business that Nintendo intends to launch its next-generation console, the Revolution, by means of a simultaneous global launch. Considering Microsoft has redefined "simultaneous" with its own "simultaneous global launch" of the Xbox 360, which actually spans three weeks, we'll have to wait and see how simultaneous Nintendo considers "simultaneous" to be.
Iwata also revealed in the interview a definite 2006 launch for the Revolution, but said it will not come during this fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2006. This leaves me to wonder, then, whether his 2006 launch is calendar or fiscal. As much as I appreciate the info obtained by
Nikkei Business, I would love it if they'd, occasionally, ask a follow up.
