With less than two weeks before the launch of the Xbox 360 (Nov. 22), it is no surprise that there is a bounty of news regarding the console. Here's a quick roundup for you:

Xbox CFO, Bryan Lee, has stated that MS will sell 3 million Xbox 360s within 3 months after launch. That's a pretty tall order, especially considering the Xbox 360 shortage. Although MS is losing about $75 per console, sales of peripherals, games, and Xbox LIVE subscriptions should put sales in that same period at about $1.5 billion. Egad man! Some analysts are saying that the 3 million unit number is very conservative, while others are saying that it will more likely be about 1.5 million units. Only time will tell.

Xbox 360 games are currently shipping to stores. This is no surprise as for months now we've been seeing the release dates of MS developed games to be this week. This always struck us as odd, but it really does make sense. Why not let people get their hands on Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo: Elements of Power, and Project Gotham Racing 3 a few weeks in advance? It will only help to spur demand, will help to shorten lines on launch day, and will give MS a stream of revenue two weeks before launch. A call to our local EB Games and Gamespot revealed that they have yet to receive any Xbox 360 games, but do expect to have Kameo, PGR3 and PD0 sometime today or tomorrow. They also said that all of their copies are already spoken for.

Finally, there is some iPod and Xbox 360 compatibility news. We've known for sometime that MS built in iPod compatibility so that you could play your iPod tunes on your Xbox 360. Late last week, as described in this article, MS confirmed that the iPod and Xbox 360 will get along, just not that well. The Xbox 360 will not be able to play songs that you have purchased from iTunes due to the Digital Rights Management (DRM) considerations. However, you will be able to play songs that you've ripped to your iPod from CD. The ball is now in Apple's court. They could easily update the iPod software to end this compatibility or just let it slide. Hopefully, they'll let it slide.
