Gaming is serious business as industry experts concluded at Game Conference
SINGAPORE, November 18, 2005 ? Unbridled joy and inconsolable despair were all part of the drama on day two of the World Cyber Games (WCG) 2005 Grand Final, as the crowd doubled in size to watch the world's best gamers put up an electrifying performance to enter the next round of the competition.
One of today's highlights included an exhilarating match-play between Singapore's Team Titans and Korea's Team MaveNCrew, with the former making it through to the single elimination round of CounterStrike. Another crowd favorite, WCG 2004 gold medal winners Team 3D from the USA, also gave their fans a reason to celebrate as they qualified for the next round of CounterStrike. It came has no surprise for Halo 2 favorites, the USA's Ogre Twins, as they qualified for the next round by beating the highly rated Team Canada.

Today's program also saw the commencement of the widely anticipated WCG 2005 Game Conference. The conference, attended by about 100 business professionals and local game design students, covered a comprehensive variety of topics including the new perspectives and opportunities for the industry, latest software and technologies, and its future.
Renowned experts in the gaming industry graced the conference, including Allan Simosen, the Chairman of International Game Developer Association (IGDA) Singapore Chapter who gave a succinct presentation on leveraging the online community, and Mr. Robert Krakoff from Razer, who provided the audience insights into the future of gaming.
"The WCG 2005 conference demonstrates World Cyber Game's commitment towards promoting the future development of the gaming industry by stimulating discussion and debate on issues pertinent to the industry. This year's conference has been a huge success, contributing to World Cyber Games' growth into an international computer and video games festival that goes beyond the competition itself," said Mr. Hank Jeong, President and CEO of International Cyber Marketing, organizer for the World Cyber Games.
Commenting on the conference is a student from Singapore's Nanyang Polytechnic, "This is definitely an eye opener for me especially as I am considering game development as a career opportunity."
It was another active day at the sponsor pavilion as the crowd reviewed latest products from Samsung, Intel and Razer. For student Dave Li, the exhibition gave him the opportunity to try out new chipsets and buy the newest gaming products.
The third day of the tournament tomorrow will showcase the championship matches for four of the eight games played at the tournament: Halo 2TM, Need for SpeedTM: Underground 2, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and Dead or Alive Ultimate.
