The numbers are in. The Xbox 360 launch in Japan was less than stellar. According to
this Gamespot story, the launch of the Xbox 360 was even worse than the launch of the Xbox, which was dismal by any standard. Of the 159,000 units shipped to retail, 62,135 sold through. What's even more interesting is that the game-to-console ratio was 0.91, meaning that many purchased the console without a game. In comparison, the Xbox sold 123,929 systems during a three day launch (the Xbox 360 figures are only for Sat. and Sun.). Add in the fact that Microsoft slashed the price of the premium system for Japan, making it about the cost of the Core system here in the States and in Europe. Hey, if Japan doesn't want them, ship them here!
