ZDNet
is reporting that a group called "Team PI Coder" has found a way to extract the source files of Xbox 360 games. Steve Manzuik, of eEye Digital Security says, "All that has been done is that they have figured out the file system, which is not much different than the original Xbox file system...I would consider it a game hack, not really an Xbox 360 hack. But (it is) the beginning steps of one." Even if one could download the source code, it wouldn't be playable on the Xbox 360 due to security measures built into the system which prevents the play of copied discs. The games wouldn't work on the PC either. Judging from the article, this really isn't a big step, but it is the first step towards figuring out how to hack the Xbox 360.
