I wonder why a city attorney would want to take up such a volatile issue, one that's been getting lots of media play, and one that aligns him with such political heavyweights as Hillary Clinton, Joe Lieberman, and Arnold?
Maybe it's because Rocky is running for Attorney General of California. That explains a lot, doesn't it?
After reading through his website, it's upsetting to see yet another politician whom I agree with on many issues fall into the trap of blaming video games for life's ills, the anti-panacea.
Unfortunately, the violent game debate has been framed so that you're either a menace to society, on the verge of committing another Columbine, or a champion of children's health. Like most things in life, it's far more nuanced than that. However, when it comes to 5 second soundbites in an election year, that 5 seconds will come out something like this: "9 year olds buy "M" rated games all the time. We must protect our kids!"
Oy.
