A report published in the Wall Street Journal and reported in many publications including the Seattle PI
confirms rumors that Electronic Arts has laid off hundreds of employees, affecting about 5% of their workforce. EA spokeswoman, Trudy Muller said, "Every division will be changing to reflect our new priorities." These new priorities include next-gen consoles, internet games (Pogo.com), and online games. EA is the world's largest video game publisher with franchies such as The Sims
, Lord of the Rings
, Harry Potter
, and Medal of Honor
. On a side note, EA is today releasing their 3rd quarter earnings. Analysts do not expect earnings to be good. If anything crazy is announced, I'll update this article.
