If you looked at any sort of news site today you probably saw the latest
rumors regarding the PS3. This all began when Joe Osha, a Merrill Lynch analyst, issued a report that the US launch of the PS3 could be delayed to 2007 and that it could cost as much as $800! Sony
has denied the delay rumors and there is no word on the cost. To get a rational point of view on all of this,
Gamesindustry has a good article refuting the main points of the analyst's report. And, from a common sense point of view, Sony knows that it can't launch a console for $800 and they are not in the same financial position as is Microsoft, who can afford to lose money on each X360 and each Xbox. Sony is staying firm to its "Spring 2006" launch window for Japan.
