According to the Miami Herald
, a resolution has been proposed to the Miami-Dade school district in Florida to "pressure Rockstar into withholding the release of the action game" while asking local merchants not to carry the game and urging parents not to buy the game.
, a game that has yet to be released, has stirred up much controversy as it allows gamers to beat up their classmates during a time when school violence is still a very serious issue. Which is one of the many reasons, I'd guess, that the game is rated "M" for "Mature".
My suggestion to the school board of Miami-Dade is to stop focusing on this one game, and teach the parents at your schools about video game ratings. The answer is not censorship, nor is it pulling the game from stores so a well adjusted 30 year old like myself can't find it. Start educating, please.
