The San Jose Mercury News has a Pre-keynote speech interview
with Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata. In the interview, Iwata confirms that the Revolution (or whatever it'll be called
) will debut this year, that he knows where MS went wrong with the X360 launch, and that he wants to get 80 - 90% of Nintendo gamers online. That online percentage is a tall order considering that Xbox currently has a 10% online rate. This focus on online gaming is in stark contrast to what Iwata said in July of '04
, "that customers do not want online games."

Much has changed since then, including the launch of the Nintendo Wi-Fi service which recently got it's 1 millionth player. I guess if you see online DS games selling like crazy, you would have a shift in philosophy. If anything comes out at Iwata's Games Developer's Conference (GDC) keynote speech, we'll let you know.
