In February
we reported that
Opera Software had announced a deal with Nintendo which will allow gamers in Japan to surf the internet via the Nintendo DS using the Opera browser. Yesterday Opera stamped a July 24th release date on that news.
The browser will be sold as a DS cartridge which Japanese gamers can insert into their Wi-Fi enabled DSes, then connect to the network and surf away...using both screens of the handheld console, of course.
While there is no word of a global release of the DS browser, I feel fairly confident in saying it's only a matter of time, as the browser is sure to be a success in Japan, and Nintendo and Opera have solidified their relationship with
Opera plans for the Wii.
