Gamasutra is today reporting on the MI6 presentation of Jason Anderson, director of research for the International Developer Group (IDG). In it, Mr. Anderson suggests that the X360 will lead the US market through 2009, at which point, the PS3 will take over. The numbers: 2007 - 10.6 million X360's, 6.8 million PS3's, and 3.5 million Wii's; 2008 - 15.5 X360, 13.5 PS3, and 6.8 Wii. In 2009, he expects the PS3 to surpass the X360. Unless money starts growing on trees, 13.5 million PS3's by the end of '08 seems like a stretch for me. Also, I think that the Wii will sell much better than predicted. People who grew up on the NES and SNES are ready to get back into gaming, but the X360 and PS3 scare them. The Wii will fit the bill, both on price and on friendliness.
