A report out of The Yankee Group (a financial company) predicts that the PS3 will be the winner in the next-generation console battle with 50% market share by 2011. The report suggests that the Xbox 360 will end up with 32% and the Wii will come in at 18%. Can I tell you right now how wrong that is?
First of all, they assume that people will only be buying one console. More accurately, there will be many households who own an Xbox 360 and a Wii, or a Wii and a PS3, or whatever. Secondly, if we are to stick to the one-console mindset, the Wii will do much better than 18%. Add in the fact that the Xbox 360 already has a head start and the PS3 costs $500! What do you think?
