Below you will find a piece from an Australian "news" program called "A Current Affair". It focuses on a 16 year old male and his addiction to "World of Warcraft". While I do understand game addiction can be a serious problem, the manner in which this story is presented is ridiculous. As Joystiq points out, it has all of the elements of a sensationalized news report: "demonizing language, foreboding music, a weeping, broken mother, and a teenager's den that looks like a crack house."

Personally, I was left annoyed by a mother who wouldn't take her son's computer away, then cried about it. I also became peeved by a society that labels things we like to do as "addictions" in an effort to remove all sense of personal responsibility from decisions we choose to make. Of course, it's a piece done by quite the low grade news program, so I probably shouldn't take it that seriously.
