This is based on two main sources. First, USA Today is reporting that major retailers, including Toys R Us and Circuit City will promise Wiis to be in stock in this Sunday's newspaper ads. There were no accompanying brightly colored pie charts, so I just don't know what to think. Second, GameSpot's rumor control took on a purported Best Buy internal memo scan which tells stores to hold all stock of the Wii until December 17.
My advice? Buy a Sunday newspaper on Saturday (if you can do that sort of thing in your town). Look through all of the ads. Call each of the retailers and ask how many they'll have in stock. Ask if anybody is lined up yet outside of the store. If so, get your rear down to the store. Remember to bring a folding chair, layer your clothing, and have lots of water and snacks with you. And, you may want to bring some mace or a taser. The thieves will be out. Better yet, contact your local police and ask them to patrol the store that evening. Oh, and don't be stupid enough to have cash on you.
Good luck and if you have any stories of Saturday night shenanigans, failures or successes, let us know.
