Sony yesterday announced that the PS3 will launch in PAL territories (Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia) on March 23. Initially, it will only be offered in the 60GB version meaning that Sony is now 1 for 97 in good decisions over the past year.

I thought it'd be interesting to compare the prices of the various territories to the cost here in the US. Keep in mind, the US dollar is very weak right now, so we're actually getting it cheap (if you consider $600 cheap). Below is the launch price in "x" territory and then the cost in US dollars.

• 599 Euros = US$778


• 425 GBP (Pounds) = US$838


• 995 AUD (Australian Dollars) = US$777


• 1199 NZD (New Zealand Dollars) = US$840

So, as you can see, I'm sure everybody is going to run out and buy one, plus games, and controllers. This is particularly true because of all of the amazing hype that the PS3 has generated here in the States.

Oh, sorry, I had my facetious hat on. Let me take that off. Actually, I think that Europeans, who are usually a little more discreet with their spending and already feel slighted for the delay, will opt for the Wii and/or Xbox 360.
