There are few games that actually make me feel guilty and/or dirty while playing. However, the original Manhunt
by Rockstar Games caused me to shower after sitting down with it for only a couple hours.
you play a criminal who was sentenced to death row for an unnamed grievous crime. However, instead of being injected with something lethal, you are injected with a sedative and placed in a seedy town full of killers and thugs...each of whom want you dead. This was all done by a movie director who is recording everything. Your goal is to escape the town and kill everyone you encounter, while being filmed. For this reason, the more creative and gruesome the kill, the better.
While I'm never for the banning of games, I can, at least, understand why so many wanted (and did) ban Manhunt
. What's more, the game received less than stellar ratings, and didn't sell nearly as well as expected. With all of that being said, the point of all of this Manhunt
speak is Rockstar's announcement yesterday that Manhunt 2
is in the works for Sony's PS2, PSP and Nintendo's Wii.
That's right, Manhunt 2
, the game where you must act out violent killings, is coming out for the Wii. Let your imagination run with that for awhile. Creepily, my imagination went straight to the movie Pan's Labyrinth
(great film, by the way), and the repeated stabbing of the man's face with a broken bottle. Yes, you, too, can thrust your Wii-mote and turn a face into hamburger. Yucka! Don't expect any Lunabean reviews and or walkthroughs for this one.
