
Well, maybe not cured, but honed. Playing action-packed video games, "significantly sharpens vision, enabling gamers to see tiny, tightly packed letters more clearly." So says a new study to be published in
Psychological Science.
Not only are us gamers sexier than the general public, but we have better hand-eye coordination, the ability to find a target amongst a sea of objects, the ability to monitor multiple items at once, and to keep track of a stream of objects flying by. Now, add to that list sharper vision.

Interestingly, in the study, the improvement was seen in subjects who played
Unreal Tournament and not in subjects who played
Tetris. There are two points here. First, the
Tetris subjects were probably so haunted by visions of falling blocks that they simply became non-functional. Second, how do the researchers know that it isn't violent games that cause vision to be enhanced? Hmm? Hmm?
