Publishers underestimated the Wii

Bloomberg today has an informative article detailing how the major US game publishers underestimated the Nintnedo Wii's popularity and are now scrambling to make games for it.

In fact, part of Electronic Arts's 30% drop in revenue is due to the fact that they focused on the PS3. They just released The Godfather Blackhand Edition (walkthrough, review) after scrambling for the past 8 months to port it from the other consoles.

Bloomberg admirably points out the one prescient publisher, Ubisoft, who threw a great deal of support behind the Wii and had two games ready for its launch Rayman Raving Rabids and Red Steel.

Of course, if you had been reading Lunabean news, you'd already know all about this, seeing as we told you about it last summer. Bloomberg really needs to catch up.
