If you're without a Wii, but are still pining for some new games then why not check out two quirky and funny game demos from Xbox Live: Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia and Shrek the Third. Both are free and together offer you a few hours of decent gameplay.
Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia is a top-down multiplayer cooperative shooter in the vein of such hits as Smash TV. Based in a setting of typical modern-day suburban America, Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia presents an offbeat riff on pop-culture horror with a vast collection of humorous looking mythical and paranormal creatures.
I gave it about 15 minutes and the top-down aspect of it really gave me some problems. Nevertheless, this is a nice change of pace from your normal first person shooter and definitely ranks high on the sarcasm meter. The cartoony characters and highschool stereotypes will make this a popular game.
Play as your favorite characters including Shrek®, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Princess Fiona, Arthur, and Sleeping Beauty in Shrek the Third™. Adventure through 20 levels from the movie and beyond. Defeat fierce villains including the huge Ice Dragon and the devious Prince Charming. Play with or against your friends, in fun multiplayer mini-games .
After a beautiful opening movie, you can play the game. Of course, this is going to be aimed at kids but that's no reason you can't enjoy it. Gameplay is very linear and reminds me a great deal of another sleeper favorite of mine, Over the Hedge. There is a good amount of "Shrek" humor, mostly heard in small little quips that the characters make, and if you like that kind of humor (and I do) then you'll have some fun with this demo.
Oh, and don't forget about Boom Boom Rocket!, another free demo that will pass some time (and frustrate you).
See, your gaming situation isn't that bad.
