I get Shrek inside the castle and press the square buttons to open the chest and to push the door but nothing happens, I don't know if I am doing something wrong or what.

hello,
On Shrek 3 i am on 31% and i cant get past it. i am stuck in a little room where guys just keep on comming out and i have to fight them, i try to jump on the boxes and then the gate only opens a little bit. Can anyone help me please? I'm stuck and getting board of the game, thanks.
