Over the weekend I was reading through some of our archived Lunabean News. I came upon a piece from February of 2005 titled Dirty Harry coming to consoles.
At the time, that was indeed the plan. Clint Eastwood's own production co., Malpaso, and Warner Bros., along with developer, The Collective, were making a Dirty Harry game due for launch in 2007.
However, upon further investigation, it seems that The Collective abrubtly cancelled the game. WB is still planning on making the game, but with a different developer (rumored to be WB's Monolith Productions).
So, where's my Dirty Harry game? The trailer, based on what The Collective had completed, looks awesome. A head in a vice? You betcha! That's some bad ass '70s violence right there...the type of violence we grew up on. Not this fancy pants shiny blood and gore splattered across the screen 21st century type violence. Nope, that's not for me. Give me gritty dirty violence and an anti-hero that really knows how to scare the pants off of criminals with the original BFG, the .44 Magnum.
If I hear anything new about the game, I'll be sure to pass it along.
