Yes, I used "teh awesom0rz," deal with it. And, deal with how great Lunabeanies Dane (Phoenix Wright) and Paratroopa (Dead Rising) looked at their Halloween Party!

Child's Play, the charity brought to us by the
Penny Arcade team, has officially kicked off its fifth year and is asking the gaming community to donate toys, games, books, and cash to children in 45 hospitals around the world.
If you can spare a few dollars, it's quite the simple process. Either donate directly to Child's Play via
Paypal, or
select a hospital to view its Amazon "Wish List", then purchase whatever you want from it.
Child's Play raised more than US$1,000,000 last year. Help them break that this year.

I just realized I never posted about the completion of our super awesome
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Walkthrough and Strategy Guide.
Whether you're trying to track down the Ghost Ship, or defeat Bellum, this guide will get you through it! Oh, and it contains the locations of ALL Gems, ALL Heart Containers, and ALL Treasure Maps. BooYa!
Game Guide: Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Walkthrough and Strategy Guide
Great chart by the
Penny Arcade team.
It reminds me of the time a friend of mine, who is a very active mommy, sent me an "action alert" about the video game
25 to Life. The media got itself into a tizzy about the title, as it allowed thugs to kill cops, but sold about two copies to actual gamers.
These scenarios always make me wonder who it is that is uncomfortably fascinated by violence. Is it the gamers, or is it the media in its never-ending quest for ratings?
Head here for the complete comic
The title says it all:

The kids of
South Park have played their fair share of video games, and tonight they will be taking on
Guitar Hero in an episode oh so creatively titled
Guitar Queer-O.
According to the Comedy Central Press Release, Stan's superior
Guitar Hero skills damage his relationship with Kyle when Stan realizes he'd be more successful with another partner.
As long as we don't see a return of Eric's
World of Warcraft poop bucket, I'm all sorts of excited.
On another note, those of you who are looking forward to the release of
Rock Star (and who isn't), stop by your local Best Buy for a chance to play it in store. Jer and I had some fun yesterday at our local Best Buy, and I, apparently, have some pretty rockin' drum skills. Pretty soon I'll have to ditch Jer and seek out a new partner. Of course, I'll wait and see how it all works out for Stan and Kyle tonight before making any decisions.
Obsessed with the Guitar Hero video game, Stan and Kyle make a great team and score record points when they play. Stan realizes he has the potential for enormous success if he plays with another partner. He and Kyle break up but, without his friend, Stan quickly folds under the pressure of being a rockstar.

Have US$9,000? Want to blow it on 30+ years and 1,768 pieces of video game nostalgia? Then I have an eBay auction for you!
Check out the auction here.
The consoles: Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, Atari Lynx, Coleco ColecoVision, Coleco Gemini, Coleco Telstar, Commodore 64/128, GCE Vectrex, Mattel Aquarius, Mattel Intellivision, Mattel Odyssey 2, Microsoft Xbox, Microsoft Xbox 360, APF TV Fun, Miscellaneous Handheld Games, Miscellaneous PC Games, SC Eight Thousand, Sega Pods, Miscellaneous TV Games, NEC Turbo Duo, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo NES, Nintendo Nintendo 64, Nintendo Super NES, Nintendo Virtual Boy, Nintendo Wii, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Game Gear, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, Sega Saturn, SNK Neo Geo, SNK Neo Geo Pocket, Sony Playstation, Sony Playstation 2, Texas Instruments TI 99/4A, VM Labs Nuon.
The games: I can't begin to list them all, and eBay doesn't have the space, so check it all out here,
http://videogames.neocurve.com/list.aspx.
I have to say, I am intrigued by the extremely rare Christmas version of
NiGHTS. Too bad it would take $9,000 (plus $1500 in shipping costs) to get my hands on it.
Finally, it's worth pointing out that there's no PS3 on the block. Did this person never buy one, or do they love it so much they just can't part with it. I have my suspicions that the console never made it into the family.

Longtime Lunabean friend, Lizking, today posted some great renderings he made using Garry's mod. I don't pretend to know how he did it, I just enjoy the results of his labor.

I am so in awe right now. Shock and awe? Sure, why not. You see, I just watched the above clip of NBC's Life where the evidence needed to help find a killer (I presume) is somehow locked inside an Xbox.
And how would one get to that evidence? One must get to "Level 10" of Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, a game which doesn't have such "levels", whereupon a magical screen appears showing tons of files. I truly enjoyed the Papyrus font text, "You Reached Level 6," et al.
Seriously? I am so tired of stupid NBC shows using tired video game stereotypes, like "levels" and "points", to forward their plots (see any recent episode of SVU). Or, wait, do I love it? Yes, the ridiculousness of it is appealing.
And, really, if lives were at stake and they needed to get through the game they should have just used the LB PoP: Two Thrones Walkthrough.
Better yet, detectives across the country who are experiencing a rash of locked evidence hidden inside video games and criminals following the plots of video games should really just get the LunaPass. It'd save them some money.

On November 15 Xbox Live will turn five. They grow up so fast *tears*.
To celebrate, Microsoft is holding all sorts of events.
Of particular interest to me is the Play and Win Sweepstakes.
In addition, Microsoft has announced that for 48 hours beginning at 12:01 am on Nov. 15th, gamers can download Carcassonne for free AND that it will be giving 500 MS points to anybody who joined Xbox Live in 2002 (that's me!).
Want some more excitement? Hold on to your hats! Original Xbox games will be available for download beginning on Dec. 4. The titles mentioned so far: Halo, Psychonauts, Crimson Skies, and Fable. Each of these games will cost 1,200 MS points ($15).
Now is that a birthday celebration or what?

Hey, look, it's the main stream media covering video games. Crazy, I know.
This piece on ABCNews.com is a good, if basic, look back at the history of everybody's favorite Italian plumber and Shigeru Miyamoto, the designer behind Mario, and current President of Nintendo.
And, in case you didn't grow up in the 80's, I embedded a Mario commercial so that you can see the awesomeness that was that decade.
The BBC is reporting that getting a Wii this Holiday season will be quite difficult.
Although Nintendo has upped production, it still cannot meet global demand. To help the Queen's people find the console some industrious people have set up http://wii-consoles.co.uk/.
For those of you in the States who are looking for it, you can try this Wii locator.
Good luck out there!

Go to Best Buy this Friday or Saturday and you may be able to get a free Guitar Hero II game and guitar with the purchase of an Xbox 360 (total price of $349.99). This is a "doorbuster" deal and not advertised in the Thanksgiving day ad. It is in store only.
I say "may be able to get..." because there are limited quantities and you'll need a "ticket". I assume this means that you'll need to be in line early.
Other Xbox 360 doorbuster deals include $20 off Stuntman Ignition, $10 off Call of Duty 3: Gold Edition, $10 off Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, and $10 off Spider-Man 3.
Check out all of Best Buy's doorbuster deals here.

Cyber Monday, the online retailer version of Black Friday, is happening today.
Best Buy has some deals on games including $10 off any $40 accessory when you buy Assassin's Creed.
Amazon.com has a few deals, but most importantly, Bioshock for $40.
Buy.com claims to have some good deals on video games, although mostly they're just touting Xbox 360 and PS3 bundles that everybody else is selling as well. Still, it's worth clicking through their 20+ pages of deals as you may find something else that you want.
Walmart's site is currently broken, so I don't know if they have any deals or not. Circuit City didn't seem to have any deals.
In summary, your best bet is to get Bioshock at Amazon. Otherwise, there aren't really any great deals out there on video games, the red-headed step child of sales.

Thanksgiving week was a good one for our video-making friends in Japan. Nintendo report that they the US, it sold 350,000 Wiis and 653,000 DS systems.
That makes for the best Thanksgiving week ever for Nintendo and eclipses the 600,000 mark that the GameBoy Advance set in 2005.
It also represents the most Wiis sold in one week since launch one year ago.
I don't see much of a slowdown going through the month of December either. For those 350,000 lucky families who got a Wii, how many tried and failed?
Also, I think the Zelda and Nintendogs DS bundles are going to be huge holiday hits. There is nothing like a new video game system and a game on Christmas morning.
