Do you enjoy getting killed while playing FPS's? Well, if you do, apparently you're not alone. According to an article found at GameCritics, participants in a study enjoyed getting killed more than killing.
While this is a good thing, it leaves one to ponder, why? For one, the study had gamers play James Bond 007: Nightfire, not exactly the most realistic or serious game. Second, the gamers were playing against the computer, not online vs each other. I wonder how that would affect the results.
I think that it's that, "oh, you got me! feeling," like when you were a kid playing cops and robbers.
Interesting stuff.

As a psychology specialist I think this kind of article really highlights the need for more informed news reporting. I think the most likely explanation for the supposed 'pleasure' in this study is that once you're dead, you don't need to be on the lookout for getting killed any more! The researchers found that levels of stress hormones were reduced and inferred that dying must be pleasurable. I find this ridiculous, if any one of the researchers were actually gamers they would realize that the stress is gone b/c now they are dead and therefore no longer need to be on their toes anymore. I never liked dying in video games it made me so made but of course I would calm down after.. People have to do better research before posting these things.
