how do i get off the elevator its not letting me duck under to drop down or climb up where the 2 boards are blocking ive been stuck for 2 days trying 2 figure this out please help

im suck at the preston hotel you know the part where ethan has to take photos of crim scene i was wondering if just take photos because im stuck i went to the exit and it didnt open any help would be appriacated thanks

One thing that is frustrating right now is whilst trying to complete the first mission 'follow Vanhorn', after exfiltrating the hospital and sprinting through the streets, I am led to another building; this must also be part of the hospital. Vanhorn is pressed up against a window and Ethan responds.

Once inside this building I get attacked from above, by a tar monster, which is straightforward but then more tar creatures attack me, on foot this time (about 3 or four of them) and I get BATTERED on each atte mpt of this. NB. Health levels are full at this stage!
