According to our favorite analyst (dripping sarcasm), Michael Pachter, it's the year of the hard core game, SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY...BOOYA!

Although there are a number of AAA titles which will debut in 2010, the video game world has changed. Of course "God of War 3" and "Gears of War 3" are going to sell well, but they won't be ground breaking...for God sakes, they have "3" after their names (that's not to say that I'm not going to play the crap out of them).

What I'm saying is that Nintendo will continue to dominate the charts, just as they did in 2009 with silly fun games that everybody can enjoy.

I just get sick of hearing things like, "It's the year of the hard core gamer," when, actually every year is the year of the hard core gamer and then the casual games always outsell them. Ugh.

There is news this week that in November 2009 the Netflix streaming service will be coming to a PS3 near you (here and here).

That piqued my curiosity as Allison and I had recently signed up for Netflix and the streaming service is currently active on the Xbox 360.

You see, our nearby Blockbuster closed and we're stuck with Hollywood Video. They charge $4.39 for new release rentals, so for the $9 that Netflix charges, we can get about 4 movies/month in the mail for the same price as 2 movies at Hollywood.

What I didn't expect to really find useful was the download shows/movies that Netflix offers. Sure, it's nice to think that I'd watch programs on my computer, but really, who wants to snuggle down with his wife to watch TV on a 19" computer screen? Well, not me, that's who!

Today, however, I decided to give the Xbox 360 Netflix app a try. The first step was to download it, which was a breeze (instructions here). In fact, it was really cool. I got an activation code on my TV that I entered into Netflix's website and within a few seconds, my Xbox responded with the message that all systems were go. Very slick.

I now had access to Netflix's entire library of "Watch Instantly" programs, which includes such awesomeness as Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Law and Order SVU (10th season). Dung...dung. Yes, I'm watching it as I write this.

What's more, I can browse Netflix adding programs to my "instant queue" and they'll be ready on my 360, or, I can just browse on the 360 and play my selection right away.

Yup. Right away. Within 30 seconds, my show is playing. That's frikin' cool. What's even better is that the $9 I'm paying to Netflix is now not just a good value for DVDs, but is a great value when you have access to an entire library of content.

When I wrote Lunabean's Harry Potter: HBP Walkthrough there was one thing I just couldn't unlock: Bonus Quidditch.

I figured that it would unlock once I earned all crests. Nope. I then figured if I got all of the Quidditch badges it would unlock. Nope. Maybe all badges in everything? Nope. So, I searched the interwebs and what did I find? That many people were having this issue and there was no solution. WTF?

Now over a month later, an answer has surfaced. It's a code, dammit!!! I no longer have the game so I have yet to try it out, but according to various sources, it seems that if you follow the below instructions, you'll unlock Bonus Quidditch. Yay!!! (The disappointing part? Bonus Quidditch is lame.)

Go to "Rewards" (in there you will see "Badges" and "Credits" along with how many Crests you have found) and with your D-pad enter: RRDDLRLRLRS
R = Right
D = Down
L = Left
S = Start

As Kotaku points out, Bill O'Reilly recently commented on a supposedly viral "Guitar Hero 5" ad where the song titles to be included in the game are written across blackout strips on naked models.

While the hypocrisy of giving air time to a viral ad that you are disgusted by always gets me, the assertion that perhaps the show was paid to air it is a new low.

And, what's with the "no pun intended" comment at the end? Heebie-jeebies!
