Quick Review
Thumbs Up for Jer Thumbs Up for Ali
Pikmin has proven to be one of the most enjoyable games Nintendo has put out to date. The story is simple. As a stranded miniture spaceguy, Olimar, you must find and acquire thirty parts your spacecraft needs to make it home. However, since you're tiny, you must use the odd planet's plantlike little characters, Pikmin, to fight your battles (mostly against "giant" insects), take down obstacles (bridges, walls, etc.), and carry your spacecraft parts back to home base. You can control up to 100 Pikmin at a time, and you will learn which Pikmin are best suited for the task at hand.

The greatest obstacle you encounter as Olimar is the time limit. You must acquire the thirty spacecraft parts in the thirty days (each day lasts 15 minutes), and make sure your Pikmin have all been collected and are safe by the end of the day, or you will lose them all. Keep in mind, however, losing your Pikmin is all part of the game. You must sacrifice to succeed. At least, that's what I tell my Pikmin when they're screaming and on fire.

FAQs
Q. What's the difference between the yellow, red, and blue colored Pikmin?
A. Red Pikmin - Your strongest fighters AND fire resistant.
Yellow Pikmin - These guys can be thrown the farthest and highest, and they have the ability to handle bomb rocks.
Blue Pikmin - Your only Pikmin with gills and the ability to swim.
Q. What ship parts are not necessary to make it off the planet?
A. The Nova Blaster, the UV Lamp, the Space Float, the Secret Safe, the Massage Machine, aren't required to get a successful ending.
Q. What's up with the rotten Purple Pikmin?
A. When fighting Puffstool of the Forest Navel, it is of the utmost importance to gain complet control of your Pikmin with the C-stick. If you fail to do so, your Pikmin could get gassed by Puffstool and turn on Captain Olimar. If this happens, throw your good Pikmin at them, as they will kill their purple counterparts.
Q. How do I beat the final boss (Emperor Bulblax)?
A. Every one has their own strategy. Mine went a little something like this: Grab 25 yellow Pikmin and 75 red Pikmin and take them to a safe area just outside of where Bulblax's reach. Take your 25 yellow Pikmin and collect the bomb rocks. Take them back to the red Pikmin. Summon one yellow bomb-equipped Pikmin and enter the arena. Wait until the big guy goes for his licking attack, and toss your little yellow friend in front of him, so he'll be slurped up. Run for your red Pikmin, and start chucking them at the big guy. Repeat the process. This takes quite some time, but it does the job.
