  • Introduction
Welcome to the wonderful and sometimes frustrating world of Viewtiful Joe. This is an excellent game that is heavy on Bosses and requires much skill from you. It's not an easy game by any means and this walkthrough and strategy guide is based on ADULT difficulty. This walkthrough will get you through the game and then at the end, when you unlock Silvia and V-Rated difficulty, well, you're on your own. You'll have learned all the skills and tips that I can teach you by then.

Opening sequence of the game: You are at a movie with your girlfriend, Silvia. You are watching your favorite super hero, Captain Blue. Then, all of a sudden, Silvia is snatched and taken into the movie. Now, you must go into the movie as well and rescue her. Along the way, Captain Blue will teach you his 3 powers: Slow Down, Speed Up, and Zoom. Here we go...

    Controls

A - Jump. Double tap for double Jump. Down and A allows you to Jump down.
    X - Kick
    Y - Punch
    B - VFX Zoom power
Yellow C-Stick - same as B button L Trigger - VFX Slow power
R Trigger - VFX Mach Speed power
D-Pad - Move left or right, upper or lower dodge.
Control Stick - Same as D-Pad.

    Powering Up

Powering up is a big element in this game. For the most part I'll tell you what you should have going into an Episode or Boss. There are, however, a lot of little things that you may or may not like using. For example, there're the boomerangs and bombs. I barely used these throughout the game but they do make some situations easier. Also, keep in mind that you can buy "Life" which will increase your Heart Meter by one. This is very important as you go through the game and it's not that expensive at first. Also, "Take 2"s are wonderful things when you're going in to fight a Boss. Take 2s enable you to get a second chance without losing a life.

    Attacks You Should Know

VFX Slow + VFX Zoom + Holding down the Punch Button

If you've looked around the web at all you'll notice that many people refer to the "SlowZ-RHOH" attack. This is definitely the best attack to use throughout the game. Don't be confused by the weird abbreviation. "SlowZ-RHOH" is simply VFX Slow + VFX Zoom + Holding down the Punch Button. It is a great attack and does the most damage of anything in the game. I do not refer to it as "SlowZ-RHOH" so you won't have to worry about it in this walkthrough. However, keep it in mind as it is a great attack.

VFX Slow + VFX Zoom + Holding down the Kick Button

This is the pink spinning kick. It's very useful for clearing out enemies on either side of you and also comes in handy for some of the puzzles.
