Talk to MIDO to get by. Check out your map. You'll notice the flashing dot at the North of your map. That is the Hyrule Market that you need to head toward. In Kokiri Forest, head West into the path/tunnel. You will be on a suspension bridge. Saria will talk to you. She gives you the FAIRY OCARINA.

You will now be in Hyrule Field. Run forward and you'll be stopped by an Owl. He tells you about the Map Subscreen.

Continue along the dirt path toward Hyrule Castle. As you approach the sun will set and the drawbridge will go up. The drawbridge is only down during the day. You'll have some Stalchilds to contend with, they're the skeletons. Run around and do some exploring until the sun comes up and the bridge goes down.

Cross the drawbridge and you'll be in Hyrule Castle Town. Go through the first door on your right. There are a ton of clay jars in there. This is a good place to collect Rupees. The jars regenerate, so, visit often.

Head toward Town (Market). Talk to people if you want. Explore some of the various shops around the Market and get familiar with the area. There is the Bazaar (item shop, if you have 80 Rupees you can buy the HYRULIAN SHIELD), the Happy Mask Shop, the Shooting Gallery, the Bombchu Bowling Alley, and the Potion Shop.

In the middle of the Market, talk to Malon, the red-haired girl. She tells you about her dad that went to the castle and hasn't come back yet. Head North through the path that takes you to Hyrule Castle. You won't be allowed through the gates, so find the vines, back a ways from the gate, and climb them. Here, you'll see your first One-Eyed Statue. It will tell you the time if you hit it with your sword. Go along the Gate top and climb down the ladder. Exit the door. You are on the other side of the gate now. Avoid the guards. Run up the hill onyour left, and run along the dirt path until you see the stairs on your right. Go past the stairs and look for an area of stone/brick on one of the walls. Climb the wall. Jump into the moat, and swim to the corner and use the area to crawl up and onto the ledge. You'll see a guy sleeping. He's blocking the way. Run up to one of the guards and get kicked out of the castle.

You'll run into Malon again. She'll give you a WEIRD EGG. Equip the egg. This egg is going to be the thing that wakes the sleeping guy (Malon's dad). You have to wait for sunrise for the egg to hatch. So, sneak back into the castle and wait by the sleeping guy until the egg hatches. The egg will hatch. "Use" the chicken near the sleeping guy, Talon.

Now, you can push/pull the crates. Push both of them off the edge. Now, you can get across and crawl through the hole in the wall.

You are now in the Castle Courtyard. You have to avoid the guards. Wait for their backs to turn and run by, or, stay behind them and follow them. Go through the passageway and you'll see Princess Zelda. She asks if you have the SPIRITUAL STONE OF THE FOREST. This is KOKIRI'S EMERALD that the Deku Tree gave to you. She'll do lots more talking and you'll have to sit through a long movie. You'll be introduced to Ganondorf, the evil guy. You are told to find the remaining two Spiritual Stones and you are given ZELDA'S LETTER. You meet up with Impa, Zelda's guardian. He teaches you your first melody for the Ocarina: Zelda's Lullaby. Impa will lead you out of the castle. He'll tell you to head to Death Mountain, where the Gorons hold the Spirtual Stone of Fire.

After Impa goes away, look at your map. There are 3 flashing dots: Death Mountain, Kakariko Village, and Lon Lon Ranch. Go to Lon Lon Ranch. Enter during the daytime.

Enter the first door on your left and speak to Talon. Play a game of Cuckoos with him. Basically, you have 30 seconds to pick out the 3 Super Cuckoos. It costs 5 Rupees to play. Watch where the first two land, then, use trial and error to find the 3rd one. It took us a few tries. You'll get some LON LON MILK, but, more importantly, a BOTTLE. Go upstairs and collect some stuff, if you want.

Exit that room, and go into the Stables across the way. You will meet Ingo. Exit the stable. Go further into the ranch. Go to the building all the way at the other side of the horse corral. It's a stone building, in the SW corner of your map. There are a lot of crates. Push/Pull the crates in order to reveal a crawl hole in the corner of the wall. You'll find a HEART PIECE. Exit that building and go back and enter the horse corral. Talk to Malon. She'll introduce you to EPONA, soon to be your trusty steed. Whip our your Ocarina and play Zelda's Lullaby for her. She'll teach you Epona's Song. You'll need that later. But, you can also use Epona's Song in front of Cows to make them produce Milk for you. Exit the Ranch. Time to get on the Road to Dodongo's Cavern.
