The Road to the Water Temple

Zora's Domain and the Ice Cavern

From here, we're told it's time to go to Zora's Domain. Head there exactly the same way you did before. Upon entering, you will see that it is now frozen over. Head up to where you last say King Zora. He is now covered in red ice. Poor guy.

Move past the King as though you were going to see Jabu-Jabu again. You will be in Zora's Fountain. Use the floating glaciers to make your way to the cave on the very north side of the map. Enter it and you will be in the Ice Cavern.

Run forward while avoiding the boulder. You will eventually get to an icy room with the bad guys and and a Freezzard. Just hit the Frezzard with your sword.

Look around the "second floor" of the room for the red, white and blue crystals. The white crystal is a switch. Hit it with your hookshot and you will be able to go through the iced over door to the left of it.

Move through the hallway. You'll get to a room with a Wolfos and some Freezzards. Kill them and the bars on the door to the right of the entrance will be raised. Slash the crystals to pass through the door.

Once again, move through the hallway to a room with a Wolfos or two. There's a Skulltula to your left. Beneath him is a switch. Hit it and you'll see a treasure chest appear beneath red ice in the room. How do we get through this ice, you ask? Read on.

In this room is a Blue Fire fountain. Gather some Blue Fire in your bottles. Run over to the treasure chest, release the blue fire, and the ice will melt. In this chest you have a DUNGEON MAP.

Now, with bottles full of Blue Fire, exit the room and go back to the previous room. Directly across from you is red ice. Pour Blue Fire on it to reveal a hallway. Watch out for the boulder.

Here we have a couple of White Wolfos, a couple of Ice Bats. Kill them and climb the block of ice to the left of the entrance, and melt the red ice. If you want the Gold Skulltulas in the room, go to the far side, by Green Navi, and play the Scarecrow Song. Pierre will appear and you can climb in to kill the Skulltula and gather the Token. To get the other Golden Skulltula, look at the door you entered the room from. Above it is a switch that looks like an icicle. Hit it with your Hookshot to access the Skulltula. Hit it again to make the ice reappear so you can climb on.

Go through the hallway and press your "A" button to open the door at the end of the hall.

Defeat the Stalfos in the room and a treasure chest will appear. Inside you will find the IRON BOOTS and Sheik. Sheik will teach you the Serenade of Water, which you can play to take you to the Water Dungeon.

Equip your boots and drop down the hole in the room. Open the door and go through. Now you're above the first main room you came to upon entering the Ice Cavern.

Go through the door into the next room. You'll see some Red Ice on the "second level" of the room. Climb up and melt it.

Pass through the hallway, killing anything that gets in your way. Get up on the platforms, killing the Freezzards along the way. Bottle some Blue Fire. If you want the Gold Skulltula here, play the Song of Time twice to get two blocks which lead up to it. Use your Blue Fire, kill the Skulltula, and collect your Token.

Contiue up the path and kill the Freezzard blocking the treasure chest. Then open the chest to get a COMPASS. Yay!

Before leaving the room, look at the floor. You'll see in the middle of it is the top of a switch sticking up. Place a bomb on it and you will be able to get to the Heart Container.

That's all there is to do in this place. Exit the Ice Cavern, and make sure you bring some Blue Fire with you.

Head to Zora's Domain. Remember the condition the King was in last time we saw him? Sprinkle some Blue Fire on him to melt the red ice, then go down to the platform to speak with him.

For helping the King, you will receive the ZORA TUNIC. Now you can breathe underwater. You have all you need to enter the water temple, so play the Serenade of Water to warp there.

Now you are in Lake Hylia. Move along the bridges until you reach ground. Put on your Zora Tunic and strap on your Iron Boots to sink to the bottom of Lake Hylia. Use your Hookshot to hit the switch above the doorway and enter The Water Temple.
