3. Wedge Missions

Raid at Bakura - Wedge Mission

Hop into your B-Wing and begin.

Disable any fleeing Imperial transports.
The basic gist here is to disable an Imperial transport with your Ion Guns (Hold B until it charges). Then, a Rebel rescue ship will come in and rescue the prisoners from the transport. While the rescue ship is docked with the transport you have to provide cover for it (objective below).

Provide cover for the Rebel recovery crews.
Once the rescue ship has docked with the trasport ship you have to provide it with cover. Stay near it and blow up any TIE Fighters that come near you. A gun ship will soon come in. When that happens you're onto your next mission...Relics of Geonosis.

Locate and rescue Hobbie - Bonus Objective
There's a reason why the Silver Medal is so easy to get here, what with the 3% shot accuracy and the 3% TCE. Well, if you do the first two objectives within the Silver Medal requirements you'll see a cut scene of Hobbie in his X-Wing getting shot down. You have to go rescue him. You'll automatically switch ships to a TIE Bomber. This is also where you get the Tech Upgrade for this level (see below).

Onto the objective itself. The TIE Bomber has two weapons. If you hold down the A-Button you can lock-on to 3 targets simultaneously. These Homing Proton Torpedos regenerate, so don't worry about over doing it. You also have bombs. Tap the B-Button to go into Bomb mode and then tap B again to drop a bomb. Basically, just stay low and take out the guns with your A-Button as you go along. Eventually, you'll get to an Orange Marker. Fly through it. That's it.

Tech Upgrade - Advanced Proton Bombs
Once you have opened the "Locate and rescue Hobbie" objective you can get this upgrade. It is in the last building before the Orange Marker and you can even see it inside the building. Bomb the building with 3 or 4 bombs and grab the upgrade.

If you haven't read the "Gold Medal Strategies" section in the Introduction, do so. Well, the first half of this mission (the stuff before rescuing Hobbie) needs to be done within Silver Medal requirements in order for you to get to the last objective where you are in the TIE Bomber. However, if you recall from doing this mission the first time, you only needed a 3% accuracy. Now, we're looking at a 28% accuracy for the Gold. So, you need to kill 45 enemies to get to open the Hobbie stuff, but you have to be very careful about your aim. Not too careful, though, as your accuracy will go up significantly in the TIE Bomber part of this mission. Use Linked Lasers. Tap down on the A-Button to do that. When the TIES turn the corner and come right at you one after the other just give each TIE one shot and that will take care of them. Also, be sure to use each and every one of your homing missiles. There's no reason to let those go to waste. Once you get to the Rescue Hobbie mission you'll be flying the TIE Bomber. This ship only has lock-on missiles which will greatly improve your accuracy. In order to get the kills you need take out not only all of the gun towers on the ground, but each of the sets of guns on the bridges spanning the canyon. You can highlight multiple targets at once, so take advantage of that. Also, bomb the buildings/structures that you come to. For me, this turned into a speed issue as I completed it several times within all specs except for speed. I recommend flying pretty fast in the TIE Bomber as there is not much you can do about time while in the B-Wing (first part of this mission). I finished it in 8:25 with 98 kills and a 40% shot accuracy.

Relics of Geonosis - Wedge Mission

The default ship for the beginning of the mission is the X-Wing.

Find the Escort Carrier.
Just fly forward.

Destroy the Escort Carrier.
Follow your radar to it. Then just stay behind it and use your lasers. Don't let up with your lasers until it blows up. You will then crash land on the planet.

Protect R5.
You are now on foot. Kill all of the enemies in front of you and then run to one of the turret guns. Use the turret gun to take out the red robot dudes. By this time you should see R5 wheeling his way in front of you. After you take out everybody you can with the turret run toward R5. Go out in front of him and take out the many many enemies with your blaster...no trick really, just keep hitting the A-Button over and over. There should be some Health and Ammo around. Keep going and you'll soon have to deal with a gun ship. Make your way to the two turret guns and man one of them. Then, lay into the gun ship. While you're at it, take out some ground soldiers too.

When you're done with that, follow R5 and you'll discover a Starfighter. You will now be able to take off in the starfighter.

Destroy both Escort Carriers.
Find the Escort Carrier. It is the huge gun ship with the thin middle section. There are 2 of them. Lay into one of them with your lasers and then shoot your Sonic Torpedos at it until it blows. Follow your radar to the second one and do the same.

Protect the Rebel Frigate.
If you do the above objective, you'll get this one, too.

Find the Jedi Starfighter's hyperdrive booster ring.
You're looking for a small ring the same color as your ship. It should be near the Rebel Frigate. It's hard to see, though, because of all of the asteroids. Your radar should be pointing at it. When you see it, fly into it.

Tech Upgrade - Advanced Proton Torpedoes
On the left side, near the last crashed escape pod you'll see the upgrade laying around. Actually, you might not see it. It looks like a couple of rifles sitting on the ground. Go up to it and you'll have picked up the Advanced Proton Torpedoes. They are now more powerful.

Gold Medal Strategies

If you haven't read the "Gold Medal Strategies" section in the Introduction, do so. For the first part of this mission use the Naboo Starfighter. Fly as fast as you can to the Escort and lay into it with lasers and missiles. It shouldn't take more that about 10 seconds to destroy. Now, you have to protect R5. Just kill everyone that you see. Don't discriminate. Make sure that you are locked-on with either a Green or Red target...don't waste any shots. When you man the tripod turret guns, make sure to shoot one at a time. Don't hold down on the A-Button. There is lots of health along the way, usually along the sides and then at the end of the area where the 2 Tripod Turret Guns are located. Back in space, use the Sonic Blasts and your lasers to destroy the two Escorts as quickly as possible. At this point you should have some time left. Use a stop watch to get a feel for it. You need this time to take out a few additional TIEs to get your kills up. When you think you're nearing the 6:40 mark, fly into the Hyper Space Ring to finish the mission. I finished this one in 6:16 with 166 enemies destroyed and a 76% shot accuracy. That's right. I was one second away from getting "Best Ever." Everything else qualified. Grrr!

Deception at Destrillion - Wedge Mission

Your default ship is the A-Wing. This is a rotten mission the first couple of times through. You're going to have to get good at flying and controling your ship if you haven't already.

Fly through the energy tunnels.
This is a bit of an obstacle course. Watch out for electricity which spans the tunnel. If you run into the beams you'll blow up. When you're through the tunnel you'll run into a new form of TIE fighters...the TIE Hunters. Ahhh!

Destroy the TIE Hunters inside the energy field.
You are trapped. Destroy all of the TIE Hunters. If you hold down your B-Button you will be able to use your Lock-on. You can lock-on to up to three fighters (Six if you have the Homing Concussion Missiles Tech Upgrade and you're using the A-Wing...see "Triumph of the Rebellion" mission), so hold down B until you acquire as many targets as you can and then let go to fire the missiles. This is a good time to learn the technique of holding down the B-Button all the time and using your thumb simultaneosly to fire your lasers with the A-Button. This way, you acquire targets as you fly around whilst still shooting at fighters that you can easily get with your lasers. You'll fire 3 seeking missiles that will usually hit their target. When you're down to the last TIE Hunter, he becomes a real problem. If you need to, use your Targeting Computer (Y-Button) to find him more easily. Once they are all dead, fly through the next tunnel.

Locate the Imperial Research Facility.
You are now flying through the second tunnel. When you get to the end of it, though, you don't see any Research Facility it all. Hmm? What are those Imperials up to?

Disable the shields surrounding the targeting relays.
See objective below.

Destroy the targeting relays.
You are now in a Y-Wing. Time for some bombing. You have to take out 3 relay dishes. The relay dishes are in each of the 3 rectangular structures where the green lasers generate from. If you fly over it from above it looks like that it is below water, but, you can see a dish down in the rectangular structure. The "water" is actually a shield over the relay dish. Use your Ion Canon (Hold B-Button) to get rid of the shield covering the dish. This needs to be from above, shooting down onto it. Two shots should do it. Then, bomb the heck out of it (tap B to go into bomb mode, then tab B again to release bombs). Do this for each of the 3 relays.

Tech Upgrade - Spread Proton Bombs
On the mission, "Destroy the targeting relays," see the central part of the laser that is a half-globe? Well, at the base of that globe, INSIDE the globe, is the upgrade. It's not down in the water at all, just at the base of the globe, inside. It's a little tricky to get as it's a pretty tight space. I just flew very slow and did a series of descending circles around it until I spiraled my way to it. Your Proton Bombs now send out a ring of smaller bombs doing more damge. Yay!

Gold Medal Strategies

If you haven't read the "Gold Medal Strategies" section in the Introduction, do so. After trying the A-Wing, Jedi Starfighter and the Naboo Starfighter I have decided that the Naboo Starfighter is the way to go. It carries the homing cluster missiles, has better shields than the A-Wing, and has R2 so you can repair if you need to. As far as the tunnels go, well, just get really good at flying through them as fast as you can. When you get to the TIE Hunters inside the energy field use your homing cluster missiles. Make sure you have a bunch of TIEs on the screen and fire in their general direction. Repeat this until you only have 1 missile left. Now, continue to take out the remaining TIEs and keep in mind you can destroy the fuel depot/canisters while TIEs are flying over it to destroy some TIEs. Also, the single TIEs will come directly at you making for an easy one shot Linked Laser blast. Remember that last missile I asked you to hold onto. Well, when you get down to "2 TIEs remaining" try to find at least one of them and fire in their general direction. You see, the last guy can be a real pain to find and he often out maneuvers you. So, that last missile comes in handy sometimes. Once that is through, fly through the tunnel as fast as you can. Once you enter the Bombing run with the Y-Wing, make sure to take out at least 2 TIEs while you're doing your thing as it helps with the number of kills. Other than that, you know what to do with the shields and the relays...just do it fast. I finished this one with a Best Ever *brags* in 3:44 with 37 enemies destroyed and an 82% accuracy. Yep, you read it right, 82% accuracy.

Guns of Dubrillion - Wedge Mission

Reach the Super Laser.
You are in an AT-ST. Start shooting everything in sight. Move forward and take out the AT-STs that are there or are placed there by Transport Ships. Then, when you come to the intersection, the only way you can go is right, so go right. Work your way around and then toward the central laser. You'll have to fight off 3 more AT-STs then go onto the elevator. This will take you down. As you go down watch out for the little 3 winged missile shooters with the blue eye.

You'll get a cut scene of the rail system. When you start back up, go left and destroy the AT-ST that is there. As you work your way left, watch out for the containers. They're explosive. You can shoot them to help you destroy any other AT-STs that want to mess with you. You'll also have to watch out for the little 3 winged missile shooters down here, too. Keep following the path until you get a cut scene.

You will now exit your AT-ST and you'll hop into an AT-AT. Sweet! You really don't have any control over the movement of it, just over the targeting. So, blow up anything and everything in front of you. In a few minutes, you'll get an elevator down. You need to concentrate your fire on the base of the laser. As you approach the laser you'll see 3 spinning turbines of various heights. Blow up the top part of each one...the area with the yellow stripe. When all three are toast, the laser will be destroyed. Yay!

Tech Upgrade - Advanced Concussion Missiles
This one is right near the beginning. Go up the ramp in front of you from the start and then look along the left side for the first cut-out/path/half-bridge. The tech upgrade is sitting right there. Your Concussion Missiles are now more powerful.

If you haven't read the "Gold Medal Strategies" section in the Introduction, do so. Be fast and use your homing missiles as much as possible. Yup, you can lock onto 3 targets at once so do so. Two missiles per enemy AT-ST and you're golden. From the beginning just keep moving. Be sure to take out the guys on the ground with single accurate blasts. On your way down the elevator be sure to take out the hovering blue-eyed missile launchers with a single shot each. Now, in the rail system, be sure to use lots of homing missiles. Just hold down the B-Button and scan back and forth and pick up anything that you can fire at and fire. Use your lasers to clean up what you missed. Again, be sure not to run into one of the explosive side cars. When you get placed in teh AT-AT just try to be as accurate as possible. There's nothing you can do about time once you're inside the AT-AT. When you see the 3 turbines spinning, try to get one or two good shots in on them as you move forward towards them. I had all three blown up by the time I reached the end of the hallway, if you will. I finished in 6:46 with 89 kills and a 47% accuracy.

Fondor Shipyard Assault - Wedge Mission

This is a mean mission. One that you will probably do at least several times, if not a dozen. The last objective is hard.

Defend the Rebel transport.
You are in a captured TIE Hunter. You have to protect the Transport long enough for it to ram into the control center. First, take out the Imperial Escort Ship with everything you got; it's easiest if you get it from behind. Then, just keep destroying TIEs and turret guns. After a few minutes you'll get a cut scene of the Transport slamming into the control center.

Destroy the damaged station's shield generator.
Whether or not you use an Ion blast here doesn't matter. The shield generator will be right in front of you. You'll see a horizontal door opening and closing. Concentrate your laser fire on the generator (the thing that the blue beam is coming out of). If you need to, do another pass. When it's destroyed the shield will be down and you'll be able to attack.

Destroy all 3 cloaking devices
This is a mean one. I found the best success with flying really fast. From the start, click down on the R-Button. This will make you go into fast speed and will close up your wings. You'll be going fast now, but the speed with some erratic flying will keep the guns from hitting you. When you approach each of the 3 Cloaking Devices, slow down (click L-Button) and lay into the Cloaking Device with everything you got! When it's destroyed, get back on course and start flying fast again. I also had limited success with varying my speed by using a combo of the L and R Buttons without actually clicking down. See what works best for you.

Gold Medal Strategies

If you haven't read the "Gold Medal Strategies" section in the Introduction, do so. The Jedi Starfighter was tailor made for this mission...Sonic Mines that recharge! Don't even try to get the Gold if you don't have this ship yet. From the start, send your wing mates to attack either the guns or the TIEs...it doesn't matter. Then, fly as fast as you can toward the Imperial Escort ship and fire off 4 Sonic Mines right at it. Peel away and turn around and make sure that it is toast. Then, take out any TIEs or guns that you can until you get the cut scene of the Rebel Transport crashing into the control center. Then, blow up the generator with laser fire and a Sonic Mine. Now we need to do the cloaking device objective. At this point I kept losing my wing mates so I would have Friendlies Lost and I wouldn't get the Gold...Grr! So, as soon as you start the 3 cloaking device objective use the "Flee" command from your command cross. Then, you have to "Confirm." This makes it so that your wing mates retreat and you don't have to worry about them getting blown up. Now, you really don't have to fly all that fast, just stay steady and blow up the gun towers that you can with two linked laser blasts each. When you get to the first Cloaking Device fly right at it and release 2 Sonic Mines. You don't even have to look to see if you blew it up, you did, and you'll hear confirmation from your wing mates. Continue on and do the same to the other 2 Cloaking Devices and all will be well. I finished this one in 3:20 with 56 kills and a 63% accuracy.
