Sidequests

This game goes beyond the walkthrough we have written for you. While we wish we had the time to put together all of the sidequests and extras for you, there's a part of us that says finding these things on your own is part of the fun. We've carried you through completion of the game, what's "extra" is up to you, but we will help point you in the right direction.

Travel to different places as a different characters. Return to places you think you're done with, or check out places you've never been. For example, did you know that Colette can speak to dogs? Did you know that you can rebuild Luin and turn it into a town that sells some awesome products? Talk to the people dressed as cats. If they aren't part of the exploration team, they'll often play a game with you where you can earn money. Work on earning new titles, or finding new recipes.

You can also earn titles and weapons by battling in the Meltokio Arena. Once you've opened it up via normal gameplay, return and keep fighting. It's well worth your time.

Also, remember all of the dark treasure chests we saw and skipped through the game? Inside each one of those is a Devil's Arm. Devil's Arms are weapons that start out weak, but their strength increases based on the number of enemies the equipped character has defeated, and they do become quite powerful.

In order to open the chests, you have to go back to the Toize Mines. Remember the flipping slab of concrete you had to destroy so long ago with the Indiana Jones boulder? Find where it was destroyed (the lower level) and examine the pieces. Here is Colette's Devil's Arm, the Evil Eye. Next, head to Flanoir and speak to the man in front of the building that won't open. He will send you on a sidequest to get a similar item for Lloyd, and the key to opening all of these chests. You have to do this fairly soon after initially entering Flanoir, or the man will no longer be available to you.

Once you find all nine Devil's Arms, head to the Temple of Darkness where you can battle a 120000 HP Goliath. Good luck with that.

You can try to find Costumes for each of your characters. For example, use Zelos as your lead character and enter Meltokio after the gates have been re-opened for you. Head to Zelos's house. First he will be Masked because of all of the annoying ladies, then have him enter his home and speak to the butler. After a series of events, everyone in the party will receive new titles and costumes. Oh, but that's just the beginning. Without giving all of the details, here are more costumes you can find.

As Zelos, enter Altimara. Speak to the woman in front of the hotel. She will send you on a journey where the reward is beachwear for the whole gang.

Take Lloyd to Luin (after it's rebuilt). Speak to the man next to the boat. Earn the Arrgh, Me Hearties costume.

Take Genis to Meltokio and head directly east, into the poorer part of town. There will be a cutscene. Once it's over, return to the main staircase in Meltokio and enter the item shop, to the left. Speak to the Kat behind the desk. Once you've done that, head to Katz Village, which is in Sylvarant, on the NE tip of the NW island. Take the path to the top and speak to the mayor. Return to Meltokio, and to the poor side of town. Another scene and a Katz costume for Genis.

Send Colette into the Meltokio Castle. With enough searching, she'll become a Maid.

Take Raine to the stone platform, up the stairs of Asgard. She'll become a Maiden.

Take Sheena home to Mizuho and have her speak to the man outside Tiga's Hut, then Tiga himself. This takes her on a journey back to the Temple of Lighting. Go to where you acquired Volt, then return to Tiga. Sheena will become a Successor.

Take Presea back to the President's Office in Altimara. She will get the "Dream Traveller" costume.

Those are all of the costumes we found.

There is also Sheena's duel with Kuchinawa. Talk to Tiga and choose either, "I know nothing about it," or, "He was working with the Pope," it doesn't matter. The duel will be approved. Lloyd is told that he will be sent as an observer. You are told to find Orochi when you are ready to duel. Go find Orochi outside and talk to him. You'll be taken to the Isle of Decision where you will duel. Kuchinawa and Sheena will face off. If you have yet to play as Sheena, take a look at her "Tech" and make sure you are comfortable with what is assigned. You'll primarily be using magic, so keep your distance and cast spells. Win or lose, it doesn't really matter.

Yes, there is more to do than what is listed above, but these were the things we did. It would take hours that we don't have and a very expensive guide to list them all. We do wish you luck!
