18. The Spirit Temple

Young Link

Climb the stairs of the entryway and speak to the woman on your left. Speak to her and tell her you're doing nothing and that you have Ganondorf. She will introduce herself as Nabooru and ask you to retrieve the SILVER GAUNTLETS. Say you will. Before you crawl through the space, however, blow up the rock behind the cobra statue and this will reveal a Golden Eye. Hit it with your Slingshot and this will drop a treasure chest. Open it for a SMALL KEY. Now, crawl through the crawl space by Nabooru.

In the next room, take care of the Torch Slugs by hitting them with a bomb, then, using your spin attack (hold "B"). This will open both doors. After that, send a BOMBCHU through the crawl space below. This will blow up the rock blocking it.

Go through the door on the right. There is a Gibdo in here. Freeze him with your Sun's Song, and take care of him. Pull the two graves back to reveal a switch. Step on it. Now, you have to blow up the boulder across the way (not the one in the pit, not the one on the wall). In order to do this, you have to send a Bombchu over to the other side. This takes a lot of trial and error. We eventually blew up the boulder on the left wall and then, sent another Bombchu via that path. But, just keep trying. This will reveal an Eye Switch. Hit it with your Slingshot. You can now jump across. Kill the Gibdos and go through the door.

You are now in a room with a central spinner and fire all around. Get up on the spinner and take out the Stalfos. This will take care of the fire and raise the bars on the doors. Go through the next door.

Move the grave to reveal a switch. Step on it to lower the bridge. There is an Anubis above the treasure chest. It's vulnerable to Din's Fire. Open the treasure chest and get the DUNGEON MAP. Kill all the bats in this room and it'll reveal a treasure chest across the bridge. Open it for a SMALL KEY. Exit out.

Go through the crawl hole and go through the chained door. Hit the crystal switch and it'll open the gate above you and drop a Like Like down on you. Climb up the wall.

In this room, you have a bunch of various enemies to kill. Once they're all dead, it'll reveal a treasure chest with Bomchus. The crystal switch at the top also controls the gate. Use the Bombchu to blow up the crack in the wall, thus, letting in the Sun. That dropped a treasure chest on the right side wall (if you're facing the chained door) that you can't reach. Don't worry about that chest now. Go through the chained door.

You are in a large room with a staircase and the Desest Colossus. At the bottom left of the Colossus, hit the Yellow Eye Switch to reveal the treasure chest with the COMPASS. Now, use Din's Fire on the Ice Eye opposite the Colossus. This will open the door underneath the eye. Go in the door and you'll see a big block on your right. To your left, and below...in the gap...you'll see a Yellow Eye Switch. Hit it with your slingshot to reveal a treasure chest with a SMALL KEY.

There is a gray/blue block with a small crate on top of it. Climb to the top of the stairs and fall down onto the block with the small crate on it. Play the Song of Time while you're on it to reveal another block. Run the crate upstairs and put it down for a second. Whip out your Ocarina and play the Song of Time again to make the block come up there for you. Grab the small crate and jump to the gray/blue block and across. Now, fall/jump down onto the Colossus' Hand with the switch on it and place the small crate on the switch. This will open the barred door at the top of the stairs. If you break the crate or fall or whatever, exit and re-enter the room to reset the small crate. Go up the stairs to the now open door.

Go through the door. Avoid the fire spouter. There are a couple of them. Go into the next room. There is a crystal switch, 5 blocks with a Sun on each one, and lots and lots of fire. Hit the crystal switch to turn off the fire, temporarily. Go to the center of the room and drag the 2 blocks, which are side-by-side, into the light. The first one will open the door. The second one will reveal a treasure chest with a Healing Heart inside. The rest of the Sun blocks are decoys.

Go through the door. Face the Iron Knuckle. When you kill him, go out the door behind the stone throne. Talk to the Owl, who tells you about the two witches, then, open the treasure chest to get the SILVER GAUNTLETS.

Adult Link

OK...the rest of the Spirit Temple must be defeated as Adult Link. Warp back to the Temple of Time, grab the Master Sword and warp back to the Spirit Temple.

Go up the stairs and look up. See the rock above you? Use a BOMBCHU to climb the wall and blow it up. This will reveal a Longshot pad for you. Use it to get up to the above floor.

Push the block to your left until it falls down and pass through the door. You're back in the Colossus room.

But, before you do anything, go out the door on the SW side of the map and grab the treasure chest that you couldn't get to as young link. Longshot up to it and get the SMALL KEY. While here, drop down the gate by hitting the crystal switch and hit the rusted switch with your HAMMER. This will reveal a treasure chest in the room that you can only get to as young Link. You'll need that treasure chest later; it has a SMALL KEY. After you hit the switch, go back up and re-enter the Colossus room.

Hookshot over to the East staircase. You need to get into the Colossus' hand to play a song. Put on your HOVER BOOTS and, from the top of the staircase, go over to the hand. Play Zelda's Lullaby to reveal a treasure chest with a measley 5 rupees.

Light the 3 torches in the room with Fire Arrows to open the door at the bottom of the East staircase.

Go up to the top of the East staircase and go through the chained door. Use your Longshot on the ceiling to get by the flames. Go through the next door. There are 4 Beamos to beat. After you take care of them, go the treasure chest and get the bundle of arrows. Approach the gray/blue block and play the Song of Time to reveal a pressure switch. Go over to the opposite side, by where the two blocks are now, and play the Song of Time twice. This will give you access to a small crate. Grab it and place it on the switch. This will raise the bars on the eastern door. Take it.

Fight the Lizolfos in the room, and don't open the treasure chest, as it will hurt you. Instead, hit it with your sword to raise the bars on the door to your right.

Exit out the southern door and put on your LENS OF TRUTH. Watch out for the Big Hand, then kill it and the three mini-hands that emerge from it. This will open the door at the top of the stairs.

In this room you have many pillars and an Iron Knuckle to defeat. It might help you to know that if you lead him to the pillars and have him destroy those, each pillar hold three recovery hearts. Once you kill him, the bars on the door will be raised and you can pass through.

Now you are outside, opposite of where you obtained the SILVER GAUNTLETS. Another treasure chest has dropped, and inside is the MIRROR SHEILD. Nice.

Backtrack to the room where you fought the Lizolfos and the blue/grey block is in the ray of sun (two rooms back). Play the Song of Time to move the block out of the light.

Now, equip your new MIRROR SHEILD and reflect the light onto the sun against the wall. This will raise the bars on the door. Move the block back with the Song of Time in order to pass through.

Here you have a Gibdo. Play the Sun's Song to freeze him, then slash him with your sword. Once you've done this, open up the Gold Treasure Chest and claim your Boss Key.

Head back in to the big statue room and take the stairs down to the door you opened earlier (by the scarecrow, still on the same staircase). Go through the door.

Inside we have some sunight, three suns, and some enemies to defeat. Defeat the bad guys first. Now, you must use your MIRROR SHEILD to reflect the light onto all three suns. Be warned, however, that every time you reflect upon a sheild, a big hand will drop down trying to take you back to the entrance. Don't let it happen.

Once all of the suns are gone, a grate in the floor will slide open. Drop down into it.

There are two spikey things moving back and forth. Just avoid them and move into the next room.

In this room we have a big rock, some water spouting up, some silver rupees, and locked door, and an unlocked door. Pass through the unlocked door first.

Inside this room is a Gold Skulltula. Kill it and collect your token. Then, stand on the triforce symbol and play Zelda's Lullaby. This will open up the door so you can exit back out. Before leaving, though, drop down into the sand and fight off all of the Leevers. Doing so will reveal a tresure chest with 50 Rupees inside.

Now, exit out of the room, collect the two Silver Rupees and blow up the rock to reveal the rusty switch. Before doing anything, be sure to cast Farore's Wind to create a warp point, then hit the switch with your HAMMER, run to the spouting water, and collect the third Silver Rupee, then exit into the entryway of the Spirit Temple. Collect the remaining Silver Rupees in this room, which are by cobra statues, once you've blown up the rocks. Doing this will drop a treasure chest with a SMALL KEY inside.

Now cast Farore's Wind and return to the warp point. Use your SMALL KEY on the locked door in the room. You have a switch in front of you, a couple of rolling boulders and a large pounding dude. Go behind the large guy and hack at him to kill him. He can't reach you behind him. Hit the switch with your hammer to open the first gate on your right (if you're facing where the large pounding guy just was). Above that gate, there is a gray/blue block. Opposite that block there is a sun symbol. So, go into the gate that you opened with the switch and play the Song of Time. This will open another gate. Go there and play Epona's Song. That opens the gate below the sun symbol. Go there and play the Sun Song. That opens another door. Play the Song of Storms in that open gate. This will open the final gate across from you. Go there and play Zelda's Lullaby. This opens the central door.

Go through the door and take out the mass of Skulltulas. There is a Gold Skulltula on the wall. Open the treasure chest to get a Purple Rupee.

At this point, you have to go back to the Temple of Time and turn into Young Link, in order to get the SMALL KEY in the treasure chest through the crawl hole on the West of 1F. The treasure chest will only appear if you had hit the rusted switch in the room to the North of the treasure chest that is on your map as adult Link, as stated above, in the section that begins, "But, before you do anything...".

Go to the 1F West as Young Link and crawl through the hole and open the treasure chest for a SMALL KEY.

Go back to the Temple of Time and turn back into Adult Link.

Return to the Spirit Temple and Longshot up the opening in the ceiling. Work your way around to the Colossus room. Go to the door at the top of the Eastern Staircase. Enter the door.

Go through the hallway and into the room with the 2 gray/blue blocks. Use the key on the chained door.

You have some Bats to kill and there are some Silver Rupees to collect. There are also 2 torches in this room, but, you can't light them. Climb the moving wall to collect the Silver Rupees. That will light the 2 torches below. Get to the top of the moving wall. Take out the Torch Slug and go through the door.

There is a Trifore Symbol on the floor. Play Zelda's Lullaby. This opens the barred door on the left. Go in.

You are now in the room with a large mirror, several crates and some large chains. Break the crates to reveal a rusty switch. Use your HAMMER on it to raise the bars on the Western door. Go through.

Take out the Green Bubbles (floating skull) and the Torch Slug and the Lizafols. There are several cobra mirrors around this area. In the East section of this area, use your Lens of Truth to find the hidden treasure chest. There is a SMALL KEY inside. Head back out to the Triforce symbol. Go through the chained door.

You have to fight an Iron Knuckle. After you beat him, there are two Gold Skulltulas to kill. Exit.

Go back to the area with the cobra mirrors. Reflect light from the first mirror that you see onto the Sun Symbol using the Mirror Shield. This will temporarily put out the fire surrounding the cobra mirror. Run to the now extinguished cobra mirror and turn it to face its light through the barred door. Go back to the first mirror and turn it to hit the flaming mirror. Go back to the chain room with the large mirror and reflect the sunlight onto the sun symbol to lower the platform with the chains. You are now back in the Colossus room.

From the platform, reflect sunlight onto the Colussus' face. Hookshot over to the Colussus and enter the Boss Door.

Take out the Iron Knuckle. The pillars are full of hearts, so stock up as you kill him. You'll find out that this is no ordinary Iron Knuckle. It was Nabooru. But, she was brainwashed, so don't blame her.

Go through the next door and down the hallway. Crawl up onto the central platform. Switch to your Master Sword, so that you can use your shield and sword simultaneously. The goal here is to reflect the Fire attack at the Ice Witch and to reflect the Ice attack at the Fire Witch. You can direct the reflection with your shield. Do this a few times until the two witches merge into one.

The goal here is to get your shield charged up with either fire or ice by blocking/absorbing the witches' magic. It doesn't matter which one, just make sure to charge it up 3 times with the same element. Once the 3rd charge comes, your shield will emit the magic back out. Aim it at the witch. This will cause her to fall to the ground. Jump over and slash her. Repeat.

Grab the Heart Container and enter the light.

You are told to go back to the Temple of Time. Do so.

Temple of Time

At the Temple of Time you will meet up with Sheik again. You will get a long cutscene and discover Sheik is really Princess Zelda. She will give you the ARROW OF LIGHT. She is then, in another exciting and unpredictable Zelda plot twist, be taken away by Ganondorf. You must now go to his castle to fight for your woman! Off we go...

Exit the Temple of Time and head toward Hyrule's Castle. Here, you will see it's been turned into Ganon's Castle. Head down the eastern path and take note of the area. Rocks you can HAMMER, rocks you can't damage, and a huge slab of something covering the cliff wall. Once noted, head back to the front of the castle (grab the Gold Skulltula on your right on the way back) and step into the destroyed stairway area. There will be a cutscene and a bridge will form allowing you to get to the castle. You are now in, "Inside Ganon's Castle".
