First and foremost, before doing anything, do a little dance, for you have The Legend in your GameCube. Woo Hoo!
After quite the introduction, you see someone is searching for Big Brother. That's you and you're on top Aryll's Lookout
and it's
your birthday. Told you it was a good day. Grandma is waiting for you. Time to move along.
Head down the ladder and jump into the water to head on over to Grandma's house. On your way over, speak to some of the island
folk (the kid with snot dripping out of his nose is interesting). They'll teach you some basic tips. Also, look around to get
your bearings.
Grandma's house is the house on the westernmost edge of the island. Enter it, climb the ladder and meet up with Grandma.
She will give you HERO'S CLOTHES. Apparently, you've come of age. There's also a family sheild hanging on the wall. Noted.
Grandma tells you to go see Aryll. Exit her house and take the bridges over to the Watchtower, where you last left Aryll.
Aryll will be up there and she'll present you with the TELESCOPE.
Use the TELESCOPE to look over at Grandma's House. Check out the Postman for fun. Suddenly, Aryll will tell you to look up
at the sky. Bad things are happening. A big bad guy dropped a girl into the forest. Looks like we'll be rescuing her. First,
Aryll tells you, you'll need
something to defend yourself with, or you can't enter the forest. Time to visit the house next to Grandma's. Enter upstairs and
you'll meet Sturgeon. Sturgeon will tell you of his
brother downstairs, Orca. He also tells you of his wall of information. Check it out the wall for some gameplay tips. Exit the
house, then re-enter it via the downstairs entrance.
Down here you'll meet Orca. He'll teach you your fighting skill (we're particularly impressed with the defensive attack).
When you're done with your lesson, Orca will give you the HERO'S SWORD. YAY!
Exit Orca's house and do a few little things before you head up
to the Fairy Forest. For one, sneak up on the Black Pig and grab it, then, bring it to the chubby woman standing
in the fenced-in area by her house. She'll give you a Red Rupee (20 rupees).
Cross the bridge to the East side of the map and you'll run into a guy crawling around in the grass. Cut it all down
for him. This teaches you that there are Rupees in the grass sometimes.
In the house next to the grass-guy, crawl under the bed to get the Rupee. This leads to a tunnel and a treasure chest
with a Red Rupee in it. Yay!
Now, head to the Fairy Forest...instead of going left to the Watch Tower, head right, up the path. You'll get
a warning that says the Forest is off limits until the suspension bridge is complete. Cut down the trees and run
up to the bridge. Run across the bridge and it'll automatically jump the gap for you. Enter the cave entrance
on the other side.
You are now in Fairy Forest. Grass, grass, everywhere. Take the path on the right, jump down, and to your left,
you'll encounter your first enemy. Take care of him. Jump up onto the tree stump and hop up to the next ledge.
There is a sign there that reads, "Fountain of the Fortune Goddess." It's an old fountain of legend.
Go up the log and cross over. You'll get a quick cutscene of two birds dropping two bad guys in. Fight them.
The girl (Miss Tetra) from the pirate ship will fall down.
Another pirate will appear who has been looking for Miss Tetra. She wants revenge on the bird, you'll follow them.
The big bird will drop down and sweep up Aryll, your sister. Damn! Miss Tetra asks you to join her on her pirate ship.
The Post Man bird will drop in and tell you a little background about young girls being taken away by the big bird and
that they're being brought to the Forsaken Fortress.
You're told that you need a Shield if you want to disembark with the Pirates. Head back to Grandma's House and enter.
Go up the ladder and you'll notice that the Shield that used to hang on the wall is no longer there. Go back down
and Grandma will give you the HERO'S SHIELD. When your sword is drawn, you can use the shield with "R".
Head back to the Pirate Ship. Talk to Miss Tetra and choose, "Yes," when she asks if you're ready.
Aboard the Pirate Ship
There will be a short scene on the ship. After that's done, you're told Niko will be looking after you. You must report to
him below deck. Go through the door and head down the stairs. Here youwill meet Niko. Niko will have you take a "test".
Niko will teach you how to jump onto platforms and jump at ropes to swing across to other platforms. He'll tell you you're timed.
Step on the button to your left to lower the platforms, then the switch to your right to raise them again. Jump to the platform across from you,
jump to the rope, swing over to the next platform. Continue jumping to the ropes and the platforms until you reach Niko on the other side. He'll be proud of you. He tells you to take the treasure.
Go to the Treasure Chest and you will receive the SPOILS BAG, where you can keep items you receive from enemies. Interesting.
Upon receiving the SPOILS BAG, you will be told that you have reached the Forsaken Fortress. Exit the area and head back upstairs.
Miss Tetra will call to you from above. Climb the ladder and meet up with her. She'll show you the scariness that is the Forsaken Fortress. The
gulls will be pointed out, which is where Aryll is suspected to be. Because the ship can't approach the island, you're shot over there in a barrel. No one said pirates were nice...
