CHAMBER OF SECRETS For Play Station 2 11/26/2002 DISCLAMER: I HAVE ABSOLUTLY NOTHING TO DO WITH HARRY POTTER, J.K. ROWLING, E. GAMES, WARNER BROTHERS, OR ANYONE ELSE. I AM MAKING NO PROFIT (OR ANY MONEY FOR THAT MATTER) WRITING THIS. I JUST WANTED A GUIDE OUT THERE FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS HELP WITH HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS GAME BY ELECTRONIC ARTS (E. A.) THIS GUIDE IS NOT TO BE SOLD AND IS GIVEN TO ANYONE FREELY. I did this because I needed help finding things / items in the side quests. I searched the internet and found a couple of leads but not really much help. I figured I could do a better job to help people out because I love Harry Potter games and I try to make sure I do EVERYTHING possible before I end / defeat the game. I hope this helps you to do just that. I have not found EVERYTHING YET, but this will help out most of you. It may not be perfect, but it is sure close. They give you a good amount if you keep using Flipendo. I usually, but not always got two every time the beans got spit out. It only took me 2-3 minutes to get to 40 beans. Once inside the barn, it just locks on (R1) and fire. If you can, try to take out the sacks first (they give you more beans). When done, go outside for your first "Duel". All you have to do here is lock on and keep moving around. You can only hurt it when the door is open. It should only take 3-4 shots. After you are done with the "duel" you will see a chicken house. Make sure to go up it and into the entrance to the second story of the barn for your first Wizard Card. Shoot the remaining flour sacks and try to hurry back to the first level of the barn to get some more beans. Gnome throwing They basically explain everything. Just zap the gnomes, pick them up and throw them. Hit the two targets to get a Wizard Card (one for each Target Hit) then one for beating the record. The most you can spin around before you get dizzy is 7 turns. To hit the scarecrow, I spun around 4-5 times and for the hay, I spun 5-6 times. To beat the record, spin all 7 times around. When you are done, press select, and end day by pressing X. Knockback Alley and Diagon Alley The first thing you should do in the store is search the cabinets. There are 4 you can check. When you are done with that, go towards the black doors in the back of the shop and enter them (Resembles a furnace). Walk slowly (sneak) towards the book (walk too fast the hand will shoot a ring of energy). Go through the black doors again and around 2 corners and use Lumos. Open Wall. To defeat the imp, all you have to do when he pops up is lock on and fire. It should take 4-6 shots. Watch out for the balloons he fires. When that is done, jump over the cabinets, stun the imps and lock them up in their cages. Try not to hit the jar until that is done (has frog if you need it). Search the glass cabinet and then climb up center cage and the level above. Go right and right again. Search the chest and then go all the way to the other side (Make sure to get another glass jar on the way). Call Hedwig and feed Hedwig. Climb ladder. Look out for the collapsible floor in this room. Climb through the hole in the wall and go through the door on the right. Go straight past the barrels and boxes, and around the corner. Grab box and move it. Push the button. Go back the way you came and past stairs to push another button. Return the way you came and go out now unblocked door. Welcome to Knockturn alley. Go up stairs and talk to the Weasley's. Go around the corners until you see a store with books on the outside. Go in and talk to the owner. While here if you need healing or more beans, search the shelves. Go outside for a quick conversation. Now you can destroy the barrels. AN IMPORTANT THING YOU NEED TO KNOW: YOU CAN ONLY CHARGE YOUR WAND FOR 4 SECONDS! AFTER THAT, IT BACKFIRES! The Best place to get sickles is to the right of the Gringotts bank. You can get 7-8 sickles here. You can go to 4 places here. Mr. Mullpepper's Apothecary Located at end of the street, has cauldrons and vases in front You can buy a Potion Vial here for 8 sickles Make sure to fill it, you'll need it later Go back to the barrels I mentioned before listing the stores and get more sickles. Gambol and Japes Wizarding Joke Shop Located behind barrels you just destroyed. 10 pack Stink Pellets for 4 sickles Go through the door and lock onto magical measurer. Charge for 3 seconds to ring bell and open passage. Shoot barrels and get quill The Magical Menagerie Located across from Mr. Mullpepper's Apothecary Equip Stink Pellets Shoot barrels and go through gate. After conversation, try to get to button. Use Stink Pellets to stun man if you need to. When you press button make get to the door behind Harry. Now Get out and go to Leaky Cauldren Leaky Cauldren Located past the book store and the Weasley's Destroy the barrels, go towards sickle and fall..... Press button and go through door. In this room all you have to do is lock up the imps. Get Wizard Card and then watch the pattern of the barrels. It is easy to get by. Go through door. In the next room go to the wall on the left (Harry's Right) go across ledge and push box. Push box to wall on other side. Let go, climb up and up stairs. Use Lumos. Go past haggard to the exit. Go to the Wesley's and then into the book store. You're done with this part of the game Womping Willow Note: you can shoot some bushes to get items Go down but look out for the thrashing vines where you jump. Once on the ground go left past the vine that comes out of the ground. Past the vine and the next root (before the first big vine on the right) there is a chest with a chocolate frog if you need it. Go past the 2 big vines and climb up slope. It is probably best if you pick up the Puffapods and throw them, it will give you an extra second to get past and you don't get dizzy. Go to other side of ledge. Walk (on the ground) straight to get a chest with a frog if you need it. Otherwise go around to the left and shoot the wall. In the next area you have to shoot a bunch of imps (I think 7-8 shots got the gauge full). When that is done, there is one with a bomb on the log opposite of where you came in. Zap him. Get chest, go back to new fallen log and climb up. If you go to the right, across another log, you will find a chest with a chocolate frog in it. Go back to new fallen log, and go left this time (across it). Call Hedwig. I'm pretty sure what you have to do here is hit the ghost dogs once with the light and then hit them again right after to increase the gauge. After that, go around the bend and to the wall shoot wall and enter. In the next area, I just ran. There are too many imps to worry about. Once you get to the potion refill ledge go left and jump over the ledge to get another chest and card. Then enter the wall. NOW FOR THE FIGHT The Womping Willow attacks in 2 ways, it hits you or it hits the ground which causes an energy ring. It will eventually use the car to hurt you also. The way to defeat it is: wait for it to attack and then target its "arm". Hit that and then the eye will be target. Charge up for a two or three seconds and hit the eye. Watch out! It should only take 4-5 hits to defeat the tree. WELCOME BACK TO HOGWARTS. NOTE: The Big Bean Bag which carries 100 beans is in the hidden chamber on the 4th floor , behind the bookshelf on the right side. Go down the hall, through the door on the left side, up the stairs, and around the corner. PROBLEM: YOU NEED TO HAVE THE SKURGE SPELL (Don't get it till 3rd night). Automatically gives you 100 beans. Also note, if you go down the hall and down the stairs instead of going to get the BIG BAG, YOU WILL FIND A POTION CAULDREN TO REFILL YOUR POTION VIAL. The third Potion Vial is by Fisk's office. You need Alohomora to get it. Fisk's office is to the left of the stairs (if you are looking at it). For the Giant Bean Bag, See Bottom of Page. Now go right and into the corner. Pick up the Vial Case and go to the entrance. (Follow the road straight ahead.) Go to the 7th floor and then go buy something from Fred and George. I usually buy the Stink Pellet bag first. Go to common room , Right side next to bulletin board. (Marked locations of items further down Always check bulletin board) End Day. There is a chest in the sleeping chamber. When you exit common room, to the right is a bookshelf that has a secret passage that takes you to the 4th floor. Mrs. Hooch's flying lessons Location: out entrance door and take right and right Not much to know here. Do the basics and then take the exam. 2 min 30 sec. to complete exam Problem: About 106 rings and when you get up to 61 rings they change to red and move up and down. It was easy until now. She says the highest grade is a "Distinction" Fewest rings I have gotten 82 Highest rings I have gotten: 100 Only help I can give: know where next ring is and aim for center of current ring and next ring if possible and do not release X button. Rescuing Nevelle NOTE: IF YOU GET BUSTED, YOU WILL LOSE 5 HOUSE POINTS (20 MAX) Go to library. (I usually take secret passage left, Harry's right outside Grifendorf Common Room. I think that is faster than waiting on the stairs to come down/ go up) (then go down two set of stairs) Equip Stink Pellets. Go through Library door. Use Stink Pellets to stop / stun Perfects. (Try to save 1/2 of them though) (I have only had to use 2-3 round trip) Book is on other side of counter. Note: Ghost will make you drop your beans if they hit you!! Right after you exit library and go into the reading room, be prepared to use a Stink Pellet! It is a possibility. Better to be safe than let Sytheren win the House Cup!! Now go down the stairs to the door to the entrance Hall. The first guy is easy to bet by- DON'T Just sneak behind him. The guy walking at the end of the stairs will defiantly need a Stink Pellet to get by him though. When you get outside make sure you Have Lumos equipped. (Ghost Dogs), do not go through the tunnel. Go to the left and go around. Herbology is across the grounds. In Green House 3, go right then left. Stun Horklump then pick them up and throw them. Crawl through the hole. The book isn't the center, on the opposite side. Got it? You will have to use a Stink Pellet on the 2nd guy. Just wait for the 1st to go past the stairs and disappear and then go. Now go back to the GriffenDorf Tower. Defense against the Dark Arts Note: Once a spell is fired at you, you can only hold the spell for one second before it backfires. Third floor: Once inside, push button on right side of room. The balls that come out have to be destroyed at close range. Button now becomes a stepping stone. Next room: button right side. Go up ledge to first pillar. Target rope and use Diffindo to cut it. Press button and repeat process. Get an imp and take it to the cage. Press button. Go back the way you came stopping only to stun an imp and drop him to the bottom floor. Stun that imp again and cage him. Press 3rd button. When you jump, jump to the side, not straight out. Cut 4th rope, get chest with frog, and go through door. Next room, target ropes in corners and cut them to drop pillars and slow down the blades. Next room: You can either stun the imps or you can throw them over the edge (Remember Harry throws a little to the right) choice is yours. Once you get around the corners, climb the ledge. To get past the statues, charge your wand for a sec. or two, release X and run. Stop where there are no scorch marks and do it again. When you get past the second one go to the middle area and then go past it. When you get to the 6th one, there is a chest with a frog in it to the left of it. Hit 6 again and go through the door. Target rope, hit it, and go down the hole and through the door. Book is in the center. Welcome to your first REAL duel.....against a Gargoyle. First 3 returns are easy. Wait for it to fire and return it. After that, it starts returning them to you and he will move them to the left or right of you. It took me 10 returns to defeat him. Now get out of here. For those who thought that was not a real duel, you now get to fight Malfoy. Best thing I can tell you here....block his shots and then send them back at him. If you push up, they will go back farther and if you push it down they will go in front of him. That is how I have beaten him. Here's a trick: bring Malfoy up close, and then return it back behind him. Or vise versa. Quidditch Practice Not much to this. Fly through a few rings; get the Golden Stitch and then go on to a practice game. You have to beat a time of 2 minutes to get an "A+". I just got a time of 46 seconds and got a grade of "Distinction"! So that must mean you have to catch the Golden Stitch in less than 1 minute. After you win the Practice Game you keep the broom, but you must (so I have read) get an "A" or a "B" Grade. Library Annex Go to third floor and then to ready room. Get past the perfects and go through the golden doors. In this room, there are allot of perfects to deal with. Sneak past the first one, Use something on the second and third perfect making sure to take right side, and enter other room using the password. In next room: you have to get to the top while avoiding flying books. It's not so hard. First, if you need to, search the shelves for items. Then go to the back corner to find a ladder to start your 4 story climb. Climb ladder and lean up against wall in front of Harry. Go left (Harry's Right). Next level: lean onto the wall on Harry's right. Next level: lean on the wall in front of Harry. Next level: lean on the wall in front of Harry. Go across and enter door. In next room search the 4 cabinets / shelves, round the corner and enter the door. If you want search every shelf there are a couple of cabinets also. Go to right first then to the left. On the right side is a chest containing an owl treat. On the left is a place to call Hedwig. Give Hedwig the treat and then climb the ladder on the other side. Turn around and jump across the shelves. Cut the rope blocking you getting to the balcony and then jump on it. Cut another rope and more shelf jumping. Read the book and then make your way back to the ground any way you can. Go through newly opened door. The drop will not hurt you. Remember ghost will knock out some of your beans. In the next room, you have to fight a bookshelf of all things. Just keep a lock on it, move left and right and hit it when you can. When that is done, grab the block and drag it over to the first column of bookshelves in the center of the room. You have to zap the books, dodge the ghost, and get to the end of the columns to get a new spell Skurge. Using surge, get rid of the ectoplasm in this room for more shelves to search. After that go back the way you came in. Then go back to the ladder in the next room. Use Skurge on the doorway and enter. (This way you do not have to face the perfects again). Go through next door and use Skurge again. Note: Ghosts are trapped in the ectoplasm. Press 2 buttons in 2 rooms and you get to Duel Crabbe. Basically all you have to do is let him serve one to you, return it, let him return it and then return it with your left analog stick pointing downward. Do this 7 times , dodge the few times he returns them left or right of you and that' s it After that quick duel, get rid of the ectoplasm on 3rd and forth doorways and press the buttons there. Return to the main room and you get to Duel Goyle. Use same technique and he will go down just as fast. Now go through doors with gold bars on them. In next room, get the block and move it so you can get to the second floor. Get rid of the ectoplasm and use Skurge to shoot the lever. Do so on the other side as well. Go through door. Use Lumos and push open wall. QUICKLY exit room by door off to the right....3 feet ahead. Head to the 7th floor and to the Grifendorf Common room. Now go to the shop or go to bed. Transfiguration Class jump to platform in front On left and right side use Skurge twice to open passage way. Use again on lever. Do same thing for other side. Then go to the center of the room and use Skurge again. Follow passageway and open door. Go right around corner and use Skurge again. Inside go to right side of wall and use Lumos and open wall. It is now a stepping stone. Climb up to the top. To Harry's right you need to use Skurge. Next go right (where you came up) and jump over. Jump over two more time and then lean up against the wall. Go right (Harry's left) Jump 4 times and then lean up against wall and go to Harry's left. One more jump. The book is in center of next room. Equip Avifors and try it out in this room. Don't lock onto target if you don't have to. I used it on the one in the corner, the one a little to the right and above and then the one opposite you. Enter crawl space. When you get back to the Gargoyle, go left or right. Jump over and use Avifors on the two rocks. (If you are walking across the gap and a gargoyle comes towards you, push down. You're gonna fall off anyway and this way it does not hit you.) Next push the bridge down. Do the same for the other side. Duel the Gargoyle. Go across bridge to the center and use the same tactics as last time. Target it, and return its blasts. For the next part, I like to jump to the platform in front (lower) and get in a little closer. Lock on to him, return his blast and dodge the ones that go left or right of you. You can try to return those if you think you can but sometimes they will not hit it. When it is destroyed, use Avifors on the remains and get out of there Go to the bride part and use door. Remember the gargoyle will return your shots back at you also. NOTE: After 3rd hit it will sometimes start firing in a multiple of four shots, one right after the next. Quidditch Game Not much to say here. Just win. If you don't you can try again immediately.....or take a loss and let Slytherin won the Quidditch Cup. Polyjuice Potion Note: If you have not gotten it yet, there is a card on the 2nd stall, left side Also, after you become Goyle, why not get caught a four time and get 20 points taken away for Slytherin...HAHAHAHA!!!!!! (Had to go to 7th floor to do so) Go to second floor first room on left. After you change into Goyle, go to the main hall. Go to the right side entrance to the dungeon. Remember to sneak past perfects and have Stink Pellets or balloons equipped. You'll need at least one. In the dungeon, go right and through gate. There is a chest with spider webs on it but you can't do anything with that now. Go to the forward right side and you will see a door to your left in center of wall. There's nothing in this room but Malfoy. Now you have to get past all these Slytherins and to the gate on the other side. Wait for the first guy to walk off and stop. Go. The best thing for me is to go all the way to the right. All you have to do then is run down to the other end. When you get to the corner, use a Stink Pellet and then another one right before or at the gate. Then exit the dungeon. DON' T MOVE!!! Move right analog stick to the right. Wait for guy to go and then move. Now you have to get back to the second floor bathroom. Charms Class Note: To kill the flame beetles, wait till they fire, then quickly use Flipendo, which will knock them on their back then use Incendio to kill them. First thing jump off ledge and duel the gargoyle. Use same tactics as before. It should only take 8 hits to destroy it. Enter door and follow pathway. Jump/ drop to the left and destroy another gargoyle. Only took 3 hits. Use Avifors on the rock. Turn around and go through gate and to the ledge on right side. Try not to get hurt by these flame mouth beetles. Go to center of room and to the upper right side to fight another Gargoyle. Then use Avifors on the new rock. Turn around and go through gate and to the ledge on the left side. Go to center of room and through entry. In next room, go around to the other side, on to walk way and get book. To get out of this room, equip Incendio and you have to have all four torches lit at once. Use Flipendo on the pig statue and run to the right. Charge Incendio for a second or three and use it on the torch. Do this for the other three. As soon as you fire Incendio, run to next torch. Go through door between last two torches. Now you are back in the first room. With Incendio, light the torches on both side of the bottom of stairs. Next, go through new entrance (pig head room). You have to light the other pig head. This changes the placement of one of the flames so you can get to the button. Then you have to light 2 of the pig statues, and then use Flipendo so that the flame is going up, run up the stairs and jump on the, now raised platform. Jump to the other platform and to the ledge beyond and press button. Go back to the pig head room and switch it back to the original way. Then go to the other pig head room cast Incendio on the other pig head. Go back to main room and Use Incendio and Flipendo on the other 2 pig statues. Go up stairs and jump on platform, jump across to other button and press. Now turn right and go through entry. Quidditch anyone? Note: now that you have Incendio, use Diffindo on the banner across from charms class door, and enter room on right side (the one with the potion cauldron). There is a chest with spider webs on it. Also if you have not gone to the library, now would be a good time. Forbidden Forest Make your way to Haggard's Hut. After Haggard goes to Prizon go behind his hut to enter the Forbidden Forest. My suggestion, equip Incendio to square, Flipendo to circle, and Lumos to triangle. Now, for the first part, use Lumos to follow the spiders. To kill spiders, use Incendio. You will burn through 2-3 webs. When you get to the brown spiders, kill them but before you use Incindio on the web on the floor, there is a frog around the bend behind and to the left of you. Drop down the hole and meet Aragog the giant spider. When you get control again, go left. When you get to the end of the slope, if you turn around you'll see you can go down. Down there is a frog if you need it. I think you can get that later. Go straight until you see two brown spiders on the wall. Kill them, go forward a little, and turn around. You'll see a spider web blocking the way. Burn it go through and you will see a chest which has a frog inside it. Now you're on a ledge. To the right are more spitting brown spiders. To the left though is part of the spider web you must burn. When you burn the big web, Aragog sends little spider to get you. Kill them before they get to you. If you check your map you'll see 4-5 places you must burn the web. Continue past burning web and climb. Two directions you can go: up or down. Go down. Jump across 2 gaps and then climb up to get a card. Go back down to previous ledge and jump across next gap. Burn the web so you can pass. In this area, I just ran and fired Flipendo to stun them. There are too many spiders to worry about. Burn next web blocking you open chest with frog inside if you need it and burn next web. Now you meet the silver spider which uses the Leg Lock spell to stop you so the others can attack you. If possible take this one out first. Go to end of the ledge and there is another web to burn to pass. There is a silver spider hiding behind a bush to your left forward. Up ahead there are some puffpods and another part of the big web to burn. Go past it and watch out for the puffpods. Kill the 2-3 spiders on the wall and then lean up against it and go left (Harry's right). There is a green, brown and silver spider (in that order) in next area. Silver is on wall. Then another brown on wall also. Follow the bend and then there is another part of the big web to burn. After that there is a Silver spider and a brown spider around the bend, off in the distance. Follow the bend / trail and you will see some bushes. In the bushes is a chest with a card inside. After that is the final piece of the big web to burn. Now you get to fight Aragog. The only time you can hurt him is when he is standing on his back legs, using Incendio. If you see a spider' s egg hanging down burn it . It has Items in it...beans and cakes. Watch out for when he charges. After he charges he will usually go on his back legs and you can hit him. He also pounds the ground that sends an energy circle outward. Then there is the spitting at you so keep your distance and keep moving. I don't recall how many shots it took to kill him. Sorry. End day. Wake up and GO KICK SOME SLYTHERIN BUTT!!! Chamber of Secrets Go to the 2nd floor bathroom. Go to the stalls. In the Snake Head Room there is nothing you can do. I have tried EVERY SPELL. So just go on. To defeat the Basilisk, you have to use the sword. When the Basilisk rises it' s head, Use the sword (tap sword button to get it' s attention and then press sword button again ) and control the beam with the left analog stick. Aim the beam at the symbol / mark on the Basilisk ' s neck . It will take damage and the word will go flying away. Pick it up and repeat the process until it is dead. When you hurt him once the roof will start falling. Look for the shadows. It should only take 3-4 hits to kill the Basilisk. THIS IS THE LAST DAY TO DO ANY THING YOU HAVE NOT DONE!!!! If you have done everything in this Walk Through you should have enough points to win. If you do not think you do, save it right before entering The Great Hall and find out what you missed. I had 475 points and I won the House Cup. Library Staircase left side. There is two torches in the left corner you can light to open a door. Also there is a tapestry you can cut. Staircase right side. There is one rock you can transfigure and ectoplasm to get rid of. Gnome Throwing Fred / George is on the roof behind Great Hall and to the left (Harry's Right) of Great Hall Not much to know. Stun Gnome. Grab Gnome. Throw Gnome. If you manage to bounce the Gnome off the side of a building and make it in a hope it is an X3 If you get a Gnome in two rings at once X2 Red ring is 5 points. Blue is 10 points. And Yellow ( I think ) one point Location of Torch Treasure Chest You probably know where most of these are but if you don't , here they are: 1) Left of Great Hall 8 torches to light 2) Right side of Confiscate Chamber 4 torches to light 3) In center of Confiscated Chamber 9 torches to light 4) Down by boat house 6 torches to light 5) By Mrs. Hooch's flying field (behind her) 5 torches to light Treasure chest Room 6B two cards need Skurge to get one Room 5B two cards Room 3C two chests need Skurge & Alohomora Room 2F one chest needs Alohomora Third floor behind tapestry need Alohomora Room 7A two cards need Skurge and Incendio Reading room crawl under bookshelf opposite door need Skurge Items from bulletin board : Potion case near entrance/exit of Womping Willow (left side, Harry's right side) Badge in flying practice field (across/ diagonal from Mrs. Hooch) Telescope :on top of roof of great hall. If you are looking at the herbology building, turn around and go to the left between the two towers Trevor : near entrance/exit of Womping Willow Scales :behind Harid 's Hut Wizard Hat : in circle of trees between Quadditch Bridge and Mrs. Hooch' s field Gloves :on Confiscated Chamber building (past Mrs. Hooch flying field) Book :go to Confiscated Chamber bridge turn around and go a little to the right. Find square patch of ground you can land on, in corner Book2 :from entrance hall go through tunnel straight ahead, make a right go to corner of wall , turn right and get book Tarantula :go to herbology building round the left corner go 3/4 way down wall look for Look for crawl space stun spider That's all for this part. Confiscated Chamber side quest NOTE: CLOISTERS is the grass area between entrance hall and Mrs. Hooch flying area with SQUARE BUSH IN EXACT CENTER Also, if you have a broom, go to the bridge and fly up. Look for ledge with window missing a section. Walk towards it to get a Wizard Card I suggest you get the Big Bean Bag ( see Welcome to Hogwarts ) spend the beans and then go get the Giant Bean Bag.
