 If you missed the first incarnation of SSX (Extreme Snowboarding), don't worry. SSX Tricky uses all of the original SSX courses, in addition to two new ones: Garibaldi and Alaska. On one hand, it's a lazy way to make money...the fact that this game is more of an upgrade than it's own entity, but on the other hand, it's interesting to see all of the improvements that EA made to the courses. If you played SSX, you'd remember Japan, the 3 lap course where the huge wind tunnel blows you vertically for what seems like forever. Right. Well, you won't believe Japan this time through. The entire game could be this course and I wouldn't get bored. The neon...oooo the neon. Game play is once again smooth and precise, although, I don't recommend playing 10 straight days of THPS3 prior to playing SSX Tricky. My right hand didn't know what my left hand was doing because my brain was in transition shock. Don't fear. I got right back up on that horse and have ridden it to a "Star" ranking. Not bad for day one.
The graphics are definitely improved and the creative touches and depth that each course holds is
amazing. The soundtrack is redone and features the likes of Mix Master Mike (Beastie Boys), Run DMC,
Aphrodite and The Plump DJ's. You now have "friends" and "enemies" in races, so be careful who you're knocking down.
Especially since some of the voices are supplied by Lucy Liu, Oliver Platt, David Arquette, Billy Zane,
and Macy Gray.
There are new "Uber" tricks that make you do some crazy flips and twists in the air for big points.
All in all, this game is more entertaining
than SSX (and I loved SSX) and new surprises keep popping up. Expect the unexpected.

| How do I do an Uber Trick? First, get your tricky meter all the way up, until the little orb at the top turns red. Then, get some big air, and press either the L1, L2, R1, or R2 buttons for one second, then hit the "square" button. You'll do an uber trick. If you do 6 uber tricks (thus filling up your "tricky" meter) you'll get unlimited boost. | ||
