Choosing Your Character and Difficulty
This guide is written based on the "Normal" difficulty. When it comes to choosing your character, it really doesn't matter if you go male or female. Also, the Interface Color has no bearing on the game. Choose whatever color you'd like. The first time I played through I went for Green. This time I'm going for Red.

Biomods play a big role in this game. They are basically enhancments, skills, and drones that you can utilize to make life easier. There are only two Biomods that I feel are absolutely necessary: NEURAL INTERFACE which allows you to Hack Security Computers and the SPY DRONE which allows you to send out a little robot which has an EMP (electro-magnetic pulse) attack. These are essential to your success in this game. The other Biomods that I recommend having are STRENGTH ENHANCEMENT, THERMAL MASKING, and HEALTH LEECH DRONE.
You can have many weapons in this game. You can even have multiples of the same weapon. I highly recommend that you use your Sniper Rifle as your exclusive weapon throughout this game. In fact, I had three different Sniper Rifles equipped with various Weapon Mods (all of them silenced). The second best weapon in the game is the Rocket Launcher which you don't get until near the end anyway. The combination of a Sniper Rifle and the SPY DRONE BIOMOD will be good enough for just about any enemy that you may encounter in this game.
Your DataVault is the place where all of your objectives, notes, and images are stored. If you're wondering what to do next or if you got a certain KeyCode, this is the place to check. It's worth checking in on your DataVault from time to time even if you do know where you are going. It helps to solidify your objectives.
Health in this game comes in the form of Med Kits and Food. Food is usually Soda, Candy Bars, or Soy. You can store up to 50 Food items per slot and up to 10 Med Kits per slot. Also, if you have the Health Leech Drone Biomod equipped, you can get Health this way.
After the movie, you start off inside an apartment. If you are like me you'll want to change your "Y-Axis" so that it feels right. Go into your start menu, options, control, and choose to "Invert Y-Axis" if that suits you. You don't have any inventory at this time. There's a lot to get used to right off the bat which is why I included a separate section on getting to know your controls and inventory (see above).
In the apartment you have your very first Holocomm communicator on a desk. Approach it and it'll play. Also in this room is a Candy Bar (health), Binoculars, and what I'll be referring to as a Strong Box (glass chest). Go up to the Strong Box and open it. Grab the DATACUBE. The DATACUBE contains a Map and some information; namely to go downstairs to Apartment 454. You can access your DATACUBE Information (Goals, Notes, and Images) by pressing the "White Button." The DATACUBE also stores KeyCodes so you don't have to remember them. KeyCodes will automatically be used if you already have them. There is also a basketball in the Strong Box. Pick it up and throw it for fun.

Exit the apartment and head East past the kitchen. You'll see your compass at the top middle of your screen. Use the blue switch and go through the door into the hallway. Turn left to the North and you'll see a guard get blown up from the side of the wall. Continue down the hall and off to your left is Apartment 454, where you need to go. There is a Janitor outside of the door. Talk to him. Don't go into Apartment 454 yet, though. Instead, take the right hallway and you'll encounter your first Public Terminal. These terminals are a good place to learn information. There are usually about 4 stories and/or ads per Public Terminal. This Public Terminal tells you that Chicago is under attack. Go to the end of the hallway and talk to the rude SSC Guard in front of the elevator.
OK, now we've explored the area a bit, go back to Apartment 454. The Keypad on the right of the door will not work. Use the Intercom on the left of the door to get in. Go in and Billie Adams will talk to you. She gives you the Elevator Code. It's automatically stored in your DATACUBE. Open the small refrigerator and grab the two things of Soy (health) and grab the Bread on the counter (health). There is also a Strong Box here, but you don't have any Multitools to open it yet, so just ignore it for now.
Exit out of Billie Adams' apartment and head for the Elevator. We now have the code and Billie has told us to check in with Dr. Nassif on the Rec Level. At the elevator, use the Keypad to the left of the door to open it. Hit the switch inside the elevator to travel to Tarsus Recreation. You'll get an Auto-Save here.
Upon exiting the elevator you'll be told about your Compass. Now in the hall, look to the left and you'll see a door with "Leila Nassif" written above it. We don't have a KeyCode for this door, but if you go up to the window you can speak to Dr. Nassif. She tells you to meet your fellow trainees. Go down the hall, don't go down the stairs, but instead go to the left of the stairs and you'll find Klara Sparks. Approach her and you'll automatically talk to her. To the left of her is the entrance to the track where Leo Jankowski is running. Talk to him. Yay! Your first decision. Choose the "Right...Jankowski," option. Next, choose the "but I'm sure the guard was dead," response.
After you talk to Leo you get a message from Dr. Nassif telling you to get a Med Kit and MULTITOOLS from your locker in the locker room near the basketball court. The BB court is below the track. Jump down there. Go into the "locker room" and find the 4 lockers. The left 2 lockers will open for you and you can grab a Med Kit, BATON, MULTITOOLS, PISTOL, AMMO, and SOY. The other two lockers require a MULTITOOL each. How convenient, we just got 2 of them. Use a MULTITOOL on each of the right 2 lockers. Grab the SPIDERBOMB, ENERGY CELL, AMMO, and whatever else is in there. Make your way out of the locker room and you'll run into an SSC Guard who will tell you there is an Order Seeker on his way. She recommends you sneak out of here. You will be given a choice. Choose the "Any more pointers?" Then, choose the "I'll get by without being seen."
Exit the locker room and you'll get your Stealth Tutorial. Basically, stick to dark areas, crouch (left thumbstick button), hide behind things, and move slowly. Whatever, whatever. Exit onto the basketball court, find the Order Seeker (hooded guy), pull out your PISTOL and shoot him in the face. Pick up his AMMO. Backtrack toward the Elevator. Billie will automatically talk to you from the lab. Billie will tell you about the Order and the fact that you are a "test subject." We'll see about that. Point being, we need to head to our Apartment.
Go back up the elevator. Upon exiting, Billie will tell you that you can get to Leo's and Klara's apartments by going through a vent in the apartment to your left. We're going to do that in a second. For now, the SSC Guard will ask for your help with an Order Seeker. Follow the SSC Guard and take out the Order Seeker and grab his AMMO. Go back and enter Apartment 453 and open the Strong Box. Grab the CREDITS, KNIFE, and AMMO. Face South and you'll find a vent which you can crouch (left thumbstick button) and go into. Follow the vent and you'll see a MULTITOOL. Pick it up and then open the vent and you are now in Leo's Apartment. Go into his kitchen and pick up the MULTITOOL and SOY. Head South and open the Strong Box on your left for a Med Kit and CONCUSSION MINE. Go up to the Holocomm and play the message. Exit Leo's apartment and enter the main hallway. Go into your Apartment and Billie will cut the power and you'll see that the ceiling is really an observation system! Egad! Head to your bathroom shower and go through the hole in the wall. Grab the MULTITOOL and go down the ladder. Then jump up the other side wall by holding down the "Y Button." Go through the door marked, "Biomaterials Laboratory."
Approach the Holocomm and Dr. Nasiff will tell you all about BIOMODS! Yay! These BIOMODS are basically upgrades that you can use throughout the game for various reasons. Please see the "Biomods Section" above for more details. After Dr. Nassif's hologram is done talking to you the door to the BIOMODS will open. First, though, look at the DATACUBE on the desk next to the Holocomm. This explains BIOMODS. Grab the 3 BIOMODS and the MULTITOOL. These are what I'm calling "Good Biomods," as opposed to "Black Market Biomods." You'll eventually encounter some Black Market Biomods as you go through the game. For now, here's what I recommend as far as using your 3 spanking new BIOMODS: Skeletal Biomod - Thermal Masking, Arm Biomod - Strength Enhancement. And for now that's it. You should have 1 BIOMOD Cannister left. You also automatically get the Flash Light BIOMOD. You can turn this on and off without draining any energy.

Exit out of the lab through the only open door and talk to the Scientist. She tells you about a rather annoying Turret Gun and Camera that she can't get by. Near here is a window sill with a MULTITOOL, DATACUBE, AND SOY. Approach the door out of here and you'll get a little "Cameras and Turrets" lesson. At this point you can sneak by the camera (notice the green emission of light from the camera that lets you know its field of vision) or use our newly added Thermal Masking BIOMOD. Go into your BIOMOD menu and activate the Thermal Masking. You can now stroll by the camera without any fear. NOTE: this drains your BIOMOD energy (the purple meter on the upper right). Go up the stairs and follow the hall. You'll see a Scientist in the window. He'll automatically talk to you. Great. You have to protect the Scientists. SAVE in case you mess up here.
Go to where the two Scientists are and wait for the 2 Order Seekers to appear. Shoot them in the head with your PISTOL. When they are dead, heal if necessary, then talk to the Scientist. He'll give you a SILENCER Weapons Upgrade. If you want to learn more, talk to the Scientist again. Head North into the next little lab area and talk to the Scientist there. He tells you about the Yellow Laser Beams blocking the door out. Be sure to look around this room. There is a MULTITOOL on a shelf in the middle, 2 DATACUBES, and a Black Market BIOMOD in a glass case. Go ahead and use one of your MULTITOOLS on the glass case and grab that Black Market BIOMOD and the Med Kit.
Go into your Biomod interface and choose the Cranial Biomod. Go to Neural Interface and install it. This BIOMOD allows you to hack into Security Computers, saving you lots of time and Multitools. At this point we have several ways to get out of this lab. There is a barrel blocking a vent or you can use your newly installed Hacking BIOMOD to hack the Security Computer and turn off the Lasers. Either way it doesn't matter. I recommend giving the hack a try just for fun and so you can get used to it then going through the vent. In the vent is a MULTITOOL. Assuming you took the vent, exit out of the vent and before you head up the stairs near you, go into the hallway and find the MEDBOT. He'll heal you. Now, go back and up the stairs. There is a glass case that you can open with a MULTITOOL if you'd like. I skipped it...just some Credits and an Energy Cell. On the North wall, near the glass case is a vent that you can open. Be careful though, there is a Light Spider Bot in there. He'll attack you. Six pistol shots should kill him. If he hurts you a lot, go down and use the MEDBOT again. Otherwise, go into the vent.
On the other side, open the vent and you'll see an Order Seeker across from you and one below you. Kill them both from the vent and then hop down. Watch out for the Camera and Turret. Use your Thermal Masking BIOMOD and sneak by them, picking up the MULTITOOL, and then heading up the stairs to the North. Follow the "Exit" signs and you'll encounter a Holocomm of Lin-May Chen, second in command at the Order. Listen to what she has to say and then go through the door. You are traveling to Upper Seattle Center.
